TOPIC -BIO-DIVERSITY
The children have been planting flowers, herbs and vegetables as part of our bio-diversity topic. They have also been making bird feeders to feed our birds that come into our garden. The children were learning how to care for our flowers and plants and how to help them grow through a story called “Let’s Grow.” The story enabled the children to understand what a seed needs to grow and to understand and name the different parts of the plant including shoot, stem and petals.
TOPIC – LITTER
As part of the Keep Scotland Beautiful campaign, the children have been learning about the importance of putting litter into bins. We have noticed in our community that there is a lot of litter lying around our nursery, particularly face masks. This is very concerning and we urge that we all take responsibility to ensure we put our litter into the bin. We are hoping to arrange a big litter pick in the community as soon as restrictions allow. If you would be interested in helping us with this, please speak to any member of staff.
Thank you
TOPIC – WASTE MINIMISATION
The children have been learning how to re-use, reduce and re-cycle as part of the topic. The children are learning to sort and categorise the various items into specific groups and they are also learning about the recycling bins and the specific items that go into each bin.
We are part of the Rag Bag Textiles recycling scheme and we ask that if you have any items of wearable clothing, bags, paired shoes and or belts that you place them in the recycling bin outside the nursery back gate. Should you wish a bag for your items, please speak to any member of staff. Your support will help us to raise some funds for the nursery.
Thank you
