I enjoyed the teacher quiz (Kailah)

I also enjoyed the teacher quiz- Muskaan

The teacher quiz was good fun.  Some of the photos were more challenging than others.  I found it easy to guess Miss Estlick as she still looks the same!  I also found it easy to guess Miss Muir, Miss Amin, Miss Wallace and Mrs McKim.  I really enjoyed the quiz and the interesting facts at the end.  Miss Estlick’s video this morning was hilarious and I have watched it many times.  I even showed it to my parents and we were all laughing.  The Number Ninja’s have now finished their workbook on area.  I wonder what we will be doing next?  (Lewis)

In Writing this week, we were to write a sequel to a famous fairytale like Little Red Riding Hood or Jack and the Beanstalk. We all had lots of fun turning these famous stories into our own. It was quite challenging thinking of a clear problem and solution, but in the end our stories turned out great and we had lots of fun writing them!-Ayla

For our comprehension we had to answer questions on Alex Rider, my groups reading book. – Cole

Today as it is Monday we have Maths first thing in the morning. For Maths we have to do sumdog/123 maths and one workbook page. Then later on we have to do some spelling. In the afternoon, we add some more information into our personal project/solo talk. I am doing a personal project and I am adding a lot of detail to my answers as I know that later on I will be making posters, slides and much more! I hope everyone is enjoying everything as much as I am! Stay safe – Aizah.

Today it is wednesday and it is the 29th of april and we have all been working hard. This morning we have had to read our books. The authors editors and illustrators read alex rider while the publishers (i think i got it right) have been reading charlie and the chocolate factory. We had to answer 8 questions to do with our books as well. After that we had HWB (health and wellbeing). We had lots of choices for it as we could have done a task from the HWB grid or our daily joe wick, i done joe wicks (and died it was so tiring). Then we had 20 sumdog questions and a sheet from our maths booklets. Finally we had our daily wraparound spelling. We all miss school but we have to do this for our own safety. Stay safe and stay happy. – oscar.

In our Writing this week, we created a recipe that includes fairtrade products. We were also allowed to try our recipe at home and see how it turned out. Lots of us took inspiration from different websites which developed our researching skills as well as writing skills. We needed to include bossy verbs ( like put, pour, cut) and put our recipe in bullet points or numbers and also make a list of the equipment and method. I really enjoyed looking at different websites to find the perfect recipe and I can’t wait to try it out soon!-Ayla

For our literacy comprehension we had to read chapter 4 of storm breaker and we had to answer 8 questions on the chapter (I recommend stormbreaker it is a very good book ) . – Cole

For Science we could choose an activity from the science grid.  One of the choices was making a shadow puppet show. It was good fun! (Andrew)

For math we had to find thing around our house and find out the shapes (Kailah)

In maths the mathletes have been completing a page of there decimals booklet every day and also doing there 20 Sumdog questions.( Louis)

I enjoyed doing the Science Experiment today.  I filled the sink and then tried over 20 items to see if they would float or sink.  Some of the results surprised me.  It was good fun.  I think I’m going to make the Fairtrade Brownies once my mum gets all the ingredients.  (Lewis)

For our reading task we have to find out about the main character of our book and write down his name, age ect. And for art we can draw paint or do anything related to art. We also have other challenges as a task for that task we could do anything challenging like do a puzzle or  check the oil level in a car.   ( Rokaia)

This week was another fun week of learning at home on Google Classroom. There were lots more activities for us to complete, and I found them very fun! Today is the last day of learning at home until after the Easter Holidays, and I am sure we will all miss interacting with each other on Google Classroom. Now,we are going to tell you about some of the activities we did!- Ayla

Maths-in maths we have been doing our 20 questions of sumdog and 123 maths also we have been doing a page in our maths booklets every day. The mathletes did fractions the number ninjas have been doing functions and cool calculators and problem solvers have been doing a booklet as well-Louis 🙂

Science-in science we had to choose an experiment to complete from the science grid.  There were lots of cool experiments including “ fill your sink with water and look about your house for items to check if they float or not.” Another experiment we could do was build a tower with items around our house and check if the tower was earthquake proof.-Andrew 🙂

ICT – For ICT we have a variety of coding websites to choose from, including codecombat, hour of code, and tinkercad. They are all very fun and all have a different aim, for example codecombats aim is to code a person to play the game, but with tinkercad the aim is to create a game. – Eleya

Literacy- In Literacy, one of our groups have been reading the book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, and the rest of our groups have been reading the book “Stormbreaker”. Both of the books are very interesting, and we have different questions about the books, and activities related to them as well. For Spelling, we had different sounds and we had to make words with them. We did some activities with them, such as, counting the syllables (Bluebell- Blue/bell-2 syllables), stretching the words ( Bluebell- b-l-ue-b-e-ll) and we had to grow the words too ( Blue-bluebell). It was very fun and I am looking forward to doing my spelling after the Easter Holidays.- Ayla

Expressive Arts- For expressive arts we have got a grid with loads of fun artsy activities. These activities include; Drama, Dance, Music, Art, Photography.  For Drama we had to recreate a scene from our favourite movie. For Dance we had to select a Just Dance and dance along to it. Music had two things you could do for it, number 1: you can experiment with Chrome Music to try and make a theme tune to your favourite TV show, number 2: ask at least 5 people what their favourite song is and then listen to the songs and think about your senses. For art we need to collect 3 to 6 objects and arrange them in a specific way and then make a piece of artwork. And last but not least photography. For photography we had to create a photograph of an interesting moment. – Chloe

Miss Estlick’s Comment

P6A pupils are now experts of Google Classroom! I am so proud and impressed with everyone’s hard work, resilience, helpfulness and resourcefulness. It has been great to see pupils working together and demonstrating the school values at our ‘hub’ school. My Star of the Week this was Cara, well done! This week I asked some of the boys and girls of P6A to write about their week for the class blog. Thank you for sharing your experiences of home learning and the virtual classroom.

Ayla

This week was P6a’s first week of learning at home. We had lots of fun activities that we could complete, and used Google Classroom to access our work. We were all able to communicate to each other and complete our work properly even if we couldn’t see each other. On the first day, we were all a bit unsure on how things were going to work out, but after the first week, I felt that doing our work on Google Classroom was a great success!

We did lots of fun things to do with science, art, maths, literacy and more, and we will tell you all about them!

Aizah

Yes as Ayla said this was our very first week of home learning and what a week it was.As said we had a wonderful week with lots to do including Expressive Art,Science,Maths, literacy comprehension questions,Writing and much more.My favourite part was probably Expressive Arts because I made a big rainbow to thank the NHS for all their hard work!As we can’t meet each other Miss.Estlick posts a video every day which I find very interesting because I can see her again. So I,like Ayla, think that the Google Classroom homework is great!

Chloe

Yes, as everyone else said this was our first week of home learning. Every single activity we do for our learning keeps us from being bored in our house. As Aizah said, Miss Estlick posts videos every morning ( that would normally be a school day) saying good morning and telling us the subjects we are needed to do for the specific day. For our home learning we all do the subject we would do at school. Completing work is now  a lot faster since we can do most of the work on our computers. My absolute favourite subject we have done was ICT on Thursday. I think Home Learning has been a great success!

Cara

On Tuesday we had writing which I enjoyed so much! We had to pick a part of the body and find information for it. I picked organs because they are an important part of the body. Did you know the average adult’s heart pumps 70 beats per minute and over 5 litres of blood travels through the heart every minute! That’s a lot of blood! I have also been enjoying the book millions being read by Miss Estlick and Mr Atkinson. The story is really gripping and exciting, making me want to get the book myself! I was really pleased when Miss Estlick said I got star of the week. Thank you very much can’t wait for us all to be back in class!

Home Learning – Update

  • Wraparound Spelling– Spelling for the week should be completed on the appropriate Google Doc, please submit at the end of the week and not on a daily basis.
  • Answers– Answers have been provided at the back of the maths workbooks for all the groups. Please self-mark or, if possible, ask an adult to mark them for you. You can share your maths work by putting a photo in the appropriate Google Doc. If you are finding any of the questions tricky please post in Google Classroom and I will help out.
  • Handing in work– Please hand in your work when you are finished for example when you have completed your writing. Please hand in your work when you have updated it so that I can check what you have updated (for example like your home learning log). The teacher can return it to you, but you can also un-submit it.
