March 2026

Science 🧪

We have been learning how to investigate and research Forces. We have investigated friction, magnetism, gravity and air resistance. We really loved designing our own magnetic maze games  🧲

Walk Scoot and Cycle  🚲

We enjoyed taking part in Walk Scoot Cycle! We love being active and being outside! 🛴 🚲 🏃‍♀️

Red Nose Day ♥️

We helped to raise over ÂŁ300 for Red Nose Day!

Eid 🌙 ⭐️
We are widening our understanding of world religions. We enjoyed being creative to help us learn all about Eid. We designed prayer mats, created symmetrical mosques, researched the 5 pillars of Islam and made Eid cards.

Weight and Measure ⚖️

We are learning how to measure the weight and mass of different items. We know that we use grams and kilograms as a unit of measuring weight. We know that there are 1000g in 1kg. We can identify the grams on different groceries. We are learning how to weigh using analogue, digital and balance scales. We enjoyed feeling what 1kg felt like using the weights.

🌟Solo Talks🌟

WOW! What a lot of hard work and preparation went into solo talks this week. I LOVED listening to all your wonderful presentations and learning lots about you and your interests. You all spoke confidently and clearly and everyone demonstrated excellent listening skills with lots of appropriate questions being asked. Well done Primary 2 🌟👏

World Book

We had a great time celebrating World Book Day (we made it World Book week) in March by listening to and working on Fantastic Mr Fox 🦊

First we learned about alliteration.

Then we used what we had been learning about the different characters in the story to write a character description.

After that we discussed how the farmers were feeling and we created ‘wanted’ posters for Mr Fox.

We enjoyed using the puppets in the theatre to retell parts of the story.

Finally, we made fox masks and recreated the fantastic feast from the book by chopping fruit and making fruit kebabs.

We were delighted to receive our World Book Day books and we enjoyed reading them in class.

Partner Balances

Primary 4 started gymnastics in PE today.  They worked on their balancing skills .

They worked closely with a partner to replicate the balance shown on the card. The used their communication and listening skills to keep each other feeling confident and safe.  Well doe boys and girls!

Anti-Bullying

Cross Arthurlie is committed to creating a safe and secure environment where bullying is discussed and challenged.

We  adopt a wide range of strategies to prevent and respond to incidents of bullying, putting a high degree of importance on developing positive relationships.

We create inclusive ethos and culture and find this is the most effective way of reducing and responding to incidents of bullying.

Our Anti-Bullying Policy and daily practice reflect an ambition to ensure a strong ethos of fairness, equality and respect.

COMPETITION!

We have been working on a new set of values for the school and are now looking for someone really creative to help us re-brand Cross Arthurlie Primary School and Nursery Class. We will be keeping both the school and nursery badges but we are looking for a visual that could be used as a backdrop for posters, used on newsletters and on the school website which would represent our new vision of:

“A caring community of learners”

The values we hold:

  • Kindness
  • Respect
  • Confidence

Together we will develop a curriculum where the journey of learning is a priority. We will build friendships and confidence looking out for each other as we live life now and prepare for our future.
