Visit from R-CADE ๐ŸŽฎ

Today was our last day of coding. We had some visitors from                     R-CADE who came into our class to look at our games and they brought us some of there  80โ€™s and 90โ€™s vintage technology. All the games that they brought to show us were very old but it still worked really well. They came in and told us all about coding, and how and were they worked in coding. There were so many different types of games, like, Pac-Man, A small motor ran tennis game, Two vintage VRโ€™s, with one showing tanks, and the other showing race cars. We really enjoyed our coding block overall, and we hope we could do it again in the future.

P7.25 presented their solo talks where they spoke about what they would like to do as a future career. It was so interesting to find out about the variety of skills and talents we all have and how we would use these in our future careers. We had people wanting to be dentists, footballers, accountants, pharmacists and lots more!

The Coders ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ“ฑ

We have now started our coding pathway in Mearns Masters. P7.25 will be coding an adventure game in pairs over the next few weeks so we have done some planning and designing what we want our games to look like, what characters we want and how each level will look!

Live Debate with Giffnock Primary ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

For our final week of Mearns Masters, the class participated in a live debate with a Primary 7 class from Giffnock Primary. The motions were all to do with ways of encouraging people to stop smoking i.e. to raise the price of nicotine products or to stop advertising nicotine products on social media.

After three excellent debates, Mrs Kennedy and the Depute Head Teacher from Giffnock gave both classes some feedback on their debates. The other Primary 7 class from Giffnock were the judges and voted Mearns Primary the winners!!

Mearns Masters Debating ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ“‹

After completing our research on how damaging smoking cigarettes and e-cigarettes can be on the body, we came up with some topics to debate around this.

We looked at the format of debating and how it is structured so we could have a mini class debate around the topic of smoking. There was lots of excellent persuasive vocabulary being used and the class were able to think quickly on their feet when asked questions about any points that were made.

Fitness Fun! ๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฅ‡
