The National 5 Music course runs for pupils in S4.  This course gives pupils the opportunity to start becoming real musicians on their instruments and learn the art of performance now that they have developed their initial skills during the BGE S1-3 courses in music.  The course includes:

  1. Practising and developing their skills with specific pieces chosen as far as possible by the pupil, from a library of appropriate options.
  2. Learning how to perform pieces and how to keep going from start to finish under pressure.
  3. Understanding music – listening to music to identify features.
  4. Develop ability in music theory / understanding of written music.
  5. Pupils play for 4 minutes on each instrument, and sit a written paper which is predominantly multi-choice.
  6. Using PCs/Technology to compose their own music in a Scottish style.

Pupils come to music for 4 periods in S4
