There are two components to course assessment:
- 2 x questions papers worth 73 %of final grade (160 marks in total scaled to 80 marks)
Paper 1 – Physical and Human Environments 100 marks (1 hour 50 minutes)
Paper 2 – Global Issues and Geographical skills 80 marks (1 hour 10 minutes)
2. An externally assessed assignment worth 30 marks. (worth 27%)
The Higher Geography course is split into three units:

- Global Issues
Physical Environments:
- Hydrosphere.
- Lithosphere.
- Biosphere.
- Atmosphere.
Human Environments:
- Population.
- Urban Geography.
- Rural Geography.
Global Issues:
- River Basin Management
- Development and Health.
