Course Outline

Over the course of S1 pupils will undertake a country comparison focusing on Scotland and India. We also build in world population and look at other areas of the world too. The units evolve around topics such as population, urban areas, water issues and weather patterns.

It wouldn’t be Geography without some good old map work! Pupils will also develop a range of map skills by focusing on Scotland in greater depth and becoming time traveling tour guides by writing a script to match their personalised Scotland maps.

The course also embeds natural IDL opportunities. For example, we link with Chemistry when looking at World Water Issues and with English for World Book Day.

The S1 course is driven by CfE experiences and outcomes and the appropriate benchmarks. The course is regularly reviewed and updated taking into account curriculum changes, pupil and parental feedback. Pupils will develop a range of skills for life, learning and work. Pupils can review their progress and record evidence of skills development in their assessment  jotter which they keep with them through their BGE journey.
