Hello families and visitors to our blog!

I’m Jess, an Early Years Practitioner here at Colquhoun Park EYC, and I’m delighted to be part of such a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ team. I love getting to know all of the children and their families, and I feel so fortunate to play a part in your little ones’ learning journey.

It’s incredibly rewarding to watch each child develop, learn, and grow through the high-quality learning experiences we provide as part of our curriculum. I’m looking forward to all the exciting opportunities the year ahead will bring and can’t wait to see what we achieve together! Jx

Hi my name is Abbie. 

I began my time here at Colquhoun Park EYC as a Support Worker working towards my SVQ 3 Social Services (Children & Young People) in 2025. I have been fortunate enough to qualify as an Early Years Worker in March of 2026 and have secured a full time post at Colquhoun Park.

I am so excited to continue being part of this amazing centre and to work alongside all the wonderful children each day.

I am passionate about supporting children through learning and play, creating a safe nurturing environment where they feel confident to explore and develop new skills. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is watching each child grow in confidence, celebrate their achievements, and develop their own unique personalities.

Care Inspectorate & HMIE Report 2026

Early learning and childcare (ELC) shared inspection report

Colquhoun Park Early Years Centre

In April 2026, a team of inspectors from HMIE and the Care Inspectorate visited Colquhoun Park Early Years Centre. During our visit, we talked to parents/carers and children and worked closely with the manager and staff.

 

 Key inspection findings

  • Highly skilled leaders and staff worked together effectively, supporting strong practice and positive outcomes for children and families.

 

  • Staff supported nurturing relationships between children and families through skilled, caring interactions, high-quality mealtimes and strong personal planning.

 

  • Children engage effectively in motivating learning experiences indoors and outdoors. They are developing their independence and confidence very well. Children enjoy exploring and being creative as they play and learn. They are happy, settled and secure in the early years centre.

 

  • Staff have a strong understanding of the needs of all children. They plan activities which are well-matched to each individual’s needs and interests. As a result, children are making very good progress in their learning and development.

HM Inspectors and the Care Inspectorate gathered evidence to enable us to evaluate the setting’s work using four quality indicators from the Quality improvement framework for the early learning and childcare sectors. Quality Indicator
