CP NEWS – January Edition

What a great start to 2024 we have had, it was wonderful to have all our families back after the Winter Break and welcome some new ones to join our CP Family.

Parents Interviews

Parent’s meetings will be set up for all non-preschool children this month. This will give the families of our 2 year old children and ante-pre a chance to link in with your child’s keyworker gaining updates on all the progress they have secured during their time with us and see/hear some of the fantastic things they have been getting up to.  These will take place on week commencing 26th February. Appointments are made on a first come, first served basis with, so please ensure you get back to us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Progress Meetings – Booking Form

Transition to School

As a staff team we will be reviewing our transition process this year, looking to enhance this experience for our children and their families. We have linked in with teachers in Primary 1 and our Educational psychologist to identify  additional areas of focus.

A breakdown of our  previous transition programme can be found @ Transitioning to Primary 1 – Colquhoun Park Early Years Centre (glowscotland.org.uk)

Please feel free to share any ideas or things you would link us to consider when putting together this years programme.

Bookbug Family Sessions

Our Bookbug family sessions are back with our first one kicking off this evening… We hope you have your singing voices at the ready!

Due to demand we will be running these sessions on a monthly basis, keep your eyes peeled to ensure your spaces are booked.

BOOT ROOM a.k.a. SANTA’S GROTTO

Unfortunately the last storm sent our boot room back to the north pole to be with Santa!!

As you will all be aware the weather at the moment is everchanging it is therefore more important than ever that all our children have the appropriate clothing provided to allow them to continue to access the outdoors as freely as safely possible. We have a rail of gloves, coats, hats, scarfs and jumpers that have been left please take the time to have a look to either reclaim or rehome.

FEBRUARY MID TERM (INSERVICE)

Our centre will remain open as normal on Monday 12th & Tuesday 13th of February. Staff training is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 14th of February therefore we will be closed to our children on this day. Reopening again at 8am on Thursday 15th of February. A full breakdown of centre closure dates can be found at EYC Closure Dates 2023/2024 – Colquhoun Park Early Years Centre (glowscotland.org.uk)

CP NEWS – DECEMBER EDITION

Winter wonderland

We would like to thank all of our families who came along to support our very first Winter Wonderland experience. A HUGE 147 family members joined us across 3 sessions, making it one of the most magical and well attended experiences we have ever had here in centre.

We had so much fun we’re already thinking about next year!!

Christmas/New Year attendance

Our last day in centre will be 22nd of December 2023 and we will be returning on Wednesday 3rd of January 2024.

If you are planning on keeping you little one off until the schools return on the 8th please drop us a quick email or leave us a voicemail to prevent a welfare call being made.

Family sessions

We will be looking to continue both our interactive family and bookbug sessions in the New Year. If their are any areas you feel you would like us to cover please email us your suggestions and we will look at tailoring sessions to meet our families need.

Support during the Festive Period

Christmas for many is about spending time with family and enjoying some much needed downtime, although for some Christmas time is a very different story, it can be filled with sadness, stresses and a time of misery and loneliness.

We ask that all of you please take a moment to check in on one another.

A quick text or a smile at someone as you pass them on the street can make all the difference.

If you find yourself in need of a little support over this time please reach out.
