Dear Pupils, Parents and Carers,
As Head Teacher of Kilmarnock Academy, I am delighted to welcome you to our school blog!
This is where you can find out all about our school such as general information, current news and some of the ongoing work of the school including Parent/ Carer and Pupil information.
We set out with a joint vision statement in 2018 when we opened our new £45 million campus which we all embrace and strive to achieve, which is:
“Kilmarnock Academy strives, as a community, to ensure that all young people reach their full potential and have opportunities to achieve qualifications, learn new skills, develop as individuals and gain key employability experiences within a nurturing environment.”
We have a built a strong school community which bonds staff, parents, pupils and our community together through our motto:
“Aspire Together, Achieve Together”
This is something that is very important to us all, as a collective and collaborative team, as we aim for equity and excellence for all our learners.
Our community agreed values of respect, determination, compassion and integrity form part of our daily life though our learning, mindset and school culture which has helped us attain recognition in achieving high standards and awards such as our Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award, LGBT Silver Charter, Digital Schools, Gold SCQF Ambassador Award, Eco School Awards as well as well as being recognised as a Fairtrade school.
At Kilmarnock Academy, wellbeing, inclusion and positive relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We have non-negotiable high expectations of all that work and study here to ensure our young people fulfil their potential.
As well as our blog, we also use our school app for clear, transparent communications which, if you haven’t done so, is essential to download.
I hope you find this blog useful and if you have any questions please get in touch. We would love to hear from you.
Best wishes,
David Rose
