Four of our S6 pupils have been working with Dr Susan Millar this year to gain a deeper understanding of a career in the medical field. Dr Millar has been on hand to offer support with applying to university for medicine and with advice on writing personal statements. She even came in to put our young people through their paces with interview preparation.
Louise, Lauren, Amber and Sophie organised S6 festive bingo for their year group. With the help of Kyle (S2) on karaoke, the event was a huge success.
Pupils completed a CPR and defib awareness session, delivered by volunteers from St John Scotland, as a follow up to the installation of the school’s public access defibrillator.
Kilmarnock Academy representatives attending the East Ayrshire Senior Youth Conference today. Topics discussed were the vaping crisis, expressing themselves and money matters.
Our Head Prefects, Lucy and Lewis, represented the school at a Remembrance event within Centrestage. This was to mark the sacrifice of teachers and pupils who lost their lives.
Last week a group of Gaelic pupils took part in a short film competition. An industry expert visited the school to help pupils film and edit their entry. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed seeing their idea come to life and learning about filming techniques!
