One of our dedicated S1s, Georgie, attended the Maths Circle at Edinburgh University this weekend where she enjoyed tackling various challenging maths and logic puzzles, including the Towers of Hanoi in this picture. Georgie is looking forward to taking part in various other mathematical enrichment opportunities in the future.

Enterprising Maths
On Tuesday Bogdan, Erin, Robyn and Abigail did a great job representing the school and, indeed, East Ayrshire at the Enterprising Maths National Final. They had fun exploring the science centre at lunchtime, even challenging Mr Craig to a game of 4-way air hockey!

Ghost Tour
Our annual Ghost Tour took place last night. S1 pupils enjoyed the event ran by the Performing Arts department. Well done to S3 Drama, S2 Music Technology and the school band for their impressive performances! Thank you also to Glow Homes for their kind donation which helped buy props and materials for the night.

Young Musician of the Year
Come along and see some of Kilmarnock Academy’s most talented young musicians and singers as they compete to earn a place in the East Ayrshire Rotary Club Young Musician of the Year. Our amazing school choir will also be keeping us entertained! Entry is free.
1O1 made landmark models from around the world as part of their S1 Geography course. Pupils brought in a fantastic array of landscapes and buildings and shared three facts with the class, this was a great fun way to increase our learning. Thanks to all pupils for their outstanding efforts.
S2 Geography embraced FairTrade Fortnight and had an experiential lesson where they had to produce and negotiate with how to get a fair price for their goods. Pupils had the opportunity to showcase their learning with a poster, information leaflet or PowerPoint. This provided new information and facts for all of the class.
