St Andrews Day activities

The Comets have been busy learning all about St Andrews Day. We were successful learners and effective contributors during different activities.

The children enjoyed doing  St Andrews Day stained glass paper crafts. In addition to this, we tried different types of food and drinks from Scotland. Everyone was confident when they were identifying what we liked and what we didn’t like.

Remembrance day in the Comets class.

The Comets were responsible during today’s one minute silence, we were all very respectful and quiet. The children all enjoyed our walk to the local Remembrance Day Garden and enjoyed looking at the wreaths and the benches with soldiers on them.

In the afternoon, we were successful learners by producing different Poppy inspired art pieces. As a class, we worked as a team to create a stain glass inspired window display that turned out beautifully.

Have a lovely weekend when it arrives.

IDL- Felt fox teddy

The Comets class have been working hard over the last few weeks to improve their fine motor skills.

Initially the children used plastic sewing needles till they became more confident. We practised lots with card and thick yarn and over time progressed to normal sewing needles and embroidery thread.

The children have been confident individuals and successful learners when making their felt fox teddies and are excited to take them home.

FAOL enterprise Halloween salt dough decorations

*Confident Individuals*    *Successful Learners*   *Responsible Citizens*  *Effective Contributors*

The Comets class were effective contributors this week when making their salt dough pumpkins decorations. The children worked hard to make sure the measurements were correct for our salt dough.

We then molded the dough to make pumpkin shapes using string and our hands. After the pumpkins cooled down from the oven, we painted them and added some sparkle!

IDL- Fantastic Mr Fox wanted posters.

The Comets have settled in well after the holidays and have been happy to see all of their friends.

As part of our theme work we have continued to enjoy the story of Fantastic Mr Fox- we are nearly at the end of the story!

The children have been successful learners this week and have produced wanted posters for Mr Fox. First, we created and wrote a description of Mr Fox and the crimes he has committed. Secondly, we  followed a step by step tutorial to create our own drawing of Mr Fox for our posters. All of the children had fantastic listening and i’m sure you will all agree, produced some amazing work!

Have a lovely weekend,

From the Comets ladies.
