Onthank’s annual Fun Day will take place on Wednesday 12 June. P7 will be organising stalls and activities for the whole school to enjoy. The cost of stalls range from 10p-50p. We all know that walking is good for us. Walking to school is not only easy, but it is a great way to exercise and keep fit. Walking to school also helps reduce pollution, and can boost pupils’ social and road skills.
We are seeking your support for this campaign, and hopefully you will join in by walking with your child/children to school for all or part of the week. If you normally travel by car, you can still take part – leave home 5 minutes earlier in the morning, park way from the school and enjoy a 5 minute walk to the school. That’s all it takes to join in.

Following the excellent feedback from event organisers regarding our students, their attitude and talent, we would like the Dance Fest team to form our ‘Onthank Ambassadors’.
Onthank Ambassadors will continue to work alongside Mr Swan in developing their dance, performing art and leadership skills to represent the school in the final term.
The first opportunity will be performing at each 60th Birthday Concert so please be advised pupils will need their costume on Wednesday 1st May.
With this in mind ‘Onthank Ambassadors’ will continue with their Friday after school club 3pm – 4pm and will continue to June.

Lara loved Onthank Primary and all her friends she made here. She loved to smile, laugh, dance and help people. She had so many lovely, happy memories of school and we are so thankful for this and all the support we have had from her friends and staff at the school. Lara, her Dad and I found so much comfort and support from this very special local charity and it would be lovely if we could continue to support them. It’s the little things that make such a difference and always to remember the happiness in the saddest of times ……….
Memories are Better than Dreams aims to help families make special memories with their children towards the end of their life and following their death.
Having a child with a long term condition is very stressful for families and places considerable financial strain on them with parents often having to give up work to care for their child. This can make it very difficult for the family to provide the opportunities to make lasting memories of their child.
They provide memory making activities, headstones for the child, special memory boxes, remembrance items such as necklaces of handprints but the help they give is individual to each family and tailored to fulfil their wishes.

In line with East Ayrshire Council guidance, we are contacting you to inform you that this term as part of the Health and Wellbeing curriculum our children will be learning about Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP). The topic is fully in line with Curriculum for Excellence which is set down by the Scottish Education Department.
Our local authority is committed to the provision of quality teaching in Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood education in accordance with National Guidelines. It forms a key element of personal, social and health education in schools and is an important part of children’s preparations for adult life. The purpose of RSHP is to provide the learners with an understanding of how to maintain positive relationships. In addition pupils are encouraged to consider how thoughts, feelings, attitudes, values and beliefs can influence decisions about relationships.
It is very important that taking into account the age and stage of the child that we take steps to use a common vocabulary to describe our emotions, feelings and body parts.
