Anti-Bullying Week 2020 – ‘United Against Bullying’

We launched ‘Anti-Bullying Week’ on Monday 16th November 2020 by asking pupils and staff to wear ‘Odd Socks’. We shared the message that we are ‘All Different, All Equal’.

During the week we explored what bullying is, different types of bullying, how it makes people feel and what we can do to help those who are being bullied.

We explored the theme through Drama, Art, discussions and much much more!

RRS Article 2: We have the right to be free of discrimination. This applies to ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities, whatever they think or say or whatever their family background.

A Special Message for Onthank Pupils!

Across the school we have been focussing on the Health and Wellbeing of our pupils and ensuring that everyone feels happy and settled in their new classes.

Some classes will be aware of the story ‘Under the Mask’ written by Emma Cahill. This story involves three loveable superheroes who teach children how to recognise and manage their emotions. Blaze, Crash and Rustle teach children how to activate their superpowers (coping mechanisms) to help deal with their strong feelings in a safe way.

Emma Cahill has recorded a very special message for everyone at Onthank Primary School. She was so happy to hear that her story was being enjoyed by so many children.

Emma has written a new book called ‘Under the Mask: Inside Feelings’ which looks just as lovely as the first book and offers lots of opportunity for discussion.

Here is a link to Emma reading the story below.

Have a great week everyone!;-)
