This session we are raising the profile of our School House System and as a result each house has been reorganised. The children have been consulted about renaming the houses and after each class had a vote the winning names are Craufurdland (red), Dean (yellow), Kay (green) and Rowallan (blue). On Monday, each child will be given a competition sheet like the one below, to complete as a homework challenge where all the family are invited to become involved. A prize will also be awarded to the winning entry form each house. Entries should be returned to your child’s class teacher no later than Friday, 6th November 2020. Good Luck!

Onthank Hallowe’en
We are asking pupils to dress up on Friday 30 October. We understand that this year you may not get the same use of Hallowe’en costumes which can be expensive so pupils can also come to school in their pyjamas. Dressing up is optional. We also ask that accessories eg wands, broomsticks, swords are not brought into school due to Covid-19 restrictions. If you would like to donate £1 for the fun of dressing up/down, we would be grateful: please pay this through ParentPay. The money collected will be kept in stages to buy resources for the pupils.
Pupils will be taking part in Hallowe’en activities and there will be a special menu on the day.

Thank you to everyone for your very generous donation towards our Harvest Time. We are so delighted with the amount of items we have collected . We are leaving all the items to self isolate during the holiday and we will sanitise them all and put them in bags to distribute in the community. If you know of anyone who should receive a parcel , please contact the school on our return. (Tuesday 2O October).

Harvest at Onthank 2020
Last year some kind people donated tins of food to the school. The children at Onthank sent them round the local community as we learned about Harvest, friendship and community spirit.
Some tasty food parcels were gratefully received and some people even said it made their day and brought a smile to their face.
Due to Covid-19 we have made safety rules to keep everyone safe. We are still celebrating Harvest while giving members a happy experience.
If you would like to give us any ideas on how to celebrate Harvest this year please do the following:
- Please leave your donations at the front of our school gates in the lunch trollies which have labels on them.
- Our lunch trollies will be at the gates from Monday 5th October – Friday 9th October for your donations.
- We would like you to donate tins of food and food which does not go out of date quickly.
- Donations will self-isolate in the school in the October holiday and be cleaned before we make our parcels.
Food parcels will be made and safely given around the houses leaving them at doors and paths with an Onthank Primary card.
Thank you for your support to help make a difference at Onthank Primary.
Stay safe.

Onthank Virtual Sports Week and P7 Sports Champions
Wow…. Over 400 video entries and hours of sports fun….
Well done Onthank, another school and community triumph!
Here is a link to the YouTube Folder with all the sports fun…. You might need some popcorn, it will take a while to watch them all…. but what better way to start your holidays…
https://youtu.be/Ljz-NKi4wPQ?list=PLcdlYTLKJ2Mv-lLHbRHf_5Hx61Vh9SYGo
[Just a quick heads up, some of them had to be sped up, we would still be watching them in August if they were left at full length and normal speed.]
If you took part in the sports week, you should have received a certificate via the email you submitted your videos through.
A massive thank you from the House Captains…. well done.
The First Minister’s Reading Challenge
As we come to the end of the school year it is time to bring to a close the First Minister’s Reading Challenge for session 2019 – 2020.🎗
The DFS pupil group launched our whole school reading challenge back in January and all pupils were involved in a variety of activities and received a reading passport. These passports were filling up and the children were both keen and excited to share their reading journey at our weekly assemblies and in class. Please continue to do this by sharing a page from your reading passport or by telling us about your favourite book. You can do this on your blog, Teams page or by emailing Mrs Klein on: julie.klein@eastayrshire.org.uk
So congratulations to everyone for taking part in Onthank Primary School’s very first, First Minister’s Reading Challenge👏🏅
Keep reading everyone, where will your reading take YOU?
CONGRATULATIONS!!
