Today we welcomed our first day of Christmas Lunches at Onthank! Primary 1, 2 and 3 had a great time celebrating Christmas and eating some traditional festive food. Many thanks to Heather and the Catering Team for facilitating our Christmas Lunches during this time.

Love is…ensuring our young people share the experience of Christmas during this time.

With Christmas, and the end of a challenging year approaching, Onthank Primary will be offering a range of supports to our full school and wider community as we share the importance of kindness, care and coming together.

We’re here to help.

All enquiries are in complete confidence as we help and signpost in any way we can. Working closely with all our partners, we can arrange any other possible assistance you require.

Our supports may come in the form of:

  • Someone to talk to in confidence about any concerns
  • Guidance on accessing various supports
  • Debt/Finance
  • Basic Needs
  • Christmas Food Hampers
  • Lucky Dip Festive Surprises
  • School – Bug Club/Glow/ICT workshops

You can nominate yourself or any other family/friend/school attending family living in the North West Onthank Community. Our Home Link Worker Steven Swan will be in touch with families reminding you there is no expectation, stigma or stereotypes surrounding this support, we are here for you if you need or want us. Mr Swan will contact you for more information if you are nominating someone else for this act of kindness.

We would be grateful if you would complete the attached form as your voice is respected and vital to our safe progression into the New Year.

Only 4 weeks until Christmas – please continue to stay safe.

Keeping Safe @ Onthank

We would like to thank all of our families for their continued effort in adhering to social distancing guidelines and the systems that are in place around our playgrounds during drop off and collection times.  We are aware that there are drainage issues on some paths at the back of the school.  During adverse weather flooding prevents the one-way system.  This problem has been reported and staff will redirect families.  In the occasion that you need to exit the gate that you entered, can you please ensure you wait for the exit to clear avoiding any congestion.

As we are now in Tier 4, we ask that adults to continue to wear face coverings and follow all rules. Please continue to maintain 2 metre distance from other families and staff, with our young people being dropped off or collected promptly at the start and end of each day.  We politely request that families do not gather at the gates at drop off and collection times.

Hallowe’en @ Onthank

Our young people and staff had a fantastic end to the week with our Hallowe’en festivities! The classes were full of ghouls, frightening creatures, and some scary faces…and that was only the staff! The activities included; Outdoor Learning with Dean Park Rangers creating bird feeders and studying bats and other creepy crawlies, dance and disco with Mr Swan who kept us all moving, a special spooky lunch menu and class themed activities and games!

Our school was alive and full of excitement, joy and happiness, with many of our young people commenting on how much they enjoyed the day! Thank you to everyone that helped to organise the activities – it made our Hallowe’en week extra special and we all had fantastic fun! 🎃👻

Our Virtual Harvest Festival

To all of our families,

We may not be able to come together physically just now, but why not join us in watching our Virtual Harvest Festival?

Going live on Friday 9th October 2020 at 10am, we will be participating in the first virtual harvest festival. Alongside Eco-Schools and the Wildlife Trusts, the Harvest festival is all about teaching the nation’s next generation what it takes to grow the food we all love and enjoy so much!
