P5E played a matching game to learn about the major organs in the body and their functions. They also colour coded the organs on an image of the body to help identify their location.
As a fun follow up task pupils played ‘You can’t live without me’ where some children acted out an organ and described its function. The rest of the class had to guess what organ they were portraying.
P5E have now completed the first draft of their PowerPoint stories which will hopefully entertain their p2 buddies.
Each group showed and read their story to our class, who then gave feedback-what was good and notes for improvement. Pupils will now edit their stories before showing the final version to p2.
Miss Ellis was very impressed with pupils’ ICT skills, especially how they were able transition from slide to slide using interesting animations.
Pupils have now started creating their PowerPoint stories for their P2 buddies.
Also, in maths, pupils have now learned about hundredths and how to note them using decimal notation. They played a pairs game revising tenths and hundredths and their decimal equivalents.
P5E having been learning about decimals, focusing first on converting tenths into decimals and vice versa.
Pupils were matching jigsaw pieces showing matching decimal, mixed number or fraction with its place on a number line. Another activity involved using an Active Maths board game where pupils were to achieve 4 in a row after converting a mixed number into a decimal correctly. The third activity gave pupils a chance to use Sumdog or Topmarks maths. The class worked really hard today.
P5E enjoyed working in the sunshine this morning. As part of digital learning week pupils are working together to create PowerPoint stories to show their P2 buddies.
Today’s session was all about planning our stories using storyboards. Some pupils have started from scratch while others are retelling a fairytale using their own words and images. Our classroom was so warm we took our work outdoors!
Today P5E did some active spelling to practise our phoneme, ow. Pupils created a spelling ‘Graffiti Wall’ and wrote their focus words using different styles.
Miss Ellis wanted to check P5E’s knowledge before investigating the organs in the human body. Pupils were to stick pictures of the organs on another pupil, who had offered to be the model, to show their location in the body. Some of their ideas were spot on and others were…interesting!
Over the next few weeks P5E will be investigating some of the organs in more detail such as learning about their functions.
As parents/carers of P5E will know the class are performing short sketches relating to the changes in technology during the 2000s. In terms of costumes most pupils are playing children and therefore do not need anything special. However, I have posted some pictures of so called noughties clothing ‘trends’ so if you are able to provide these clothes or something similar that would be great. Anything you send in should be labelled with your child’s name and class.
Velour tracksuits! Sunglasses with colour lenses.

Combat/cargo trousers, vest tops and ties (sometimes used around the waist like a belt too!)
Double denim
Baker Boy hats!
Large belts.
Hoodies and longish trousers.
Shirts over t-shirts.
And even more denim!
For girls peddle pushers were quite popular and rolled up jeans would achieve this look.
One of our pupils will require a black turtle neck or black jumper with a high collar(the character will be revealed in the show). If anyone has one they could lend us that would be great.
This week P5E completed another Easter egg hunt but this time bags of coins were hiding inside each egg. Pupils counted the coins and noted the amount in their jotters. They were pretty good at counting accurately and demonstrated confidence in this skill. Then, just for fun, we played the Easter egg toss game again. Happy Easter everyone!
