Lots of p5E pupils made an effort to dress up in fabulous costumes today:

We had fun guessing who their characters were and we were pretty spot on.

The pupils had the chance to share their books in small groups.

Then we had fun doing various maths skills using books:

This involved ordering books based on number of pages, adding up the total number of pages, data analysis using a bar graph showing people’s favourite books and measuring their books’ dimensions using a ruler.

What a busy and fun day we’ve had!

A busy morning in P5D/N!

Some active spelling to get us started then we were working hard to produce some wonderful writing 👏.  We based our writing on a visit to the chocolate room from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.   Our ideas were mouthwatering!

As part of our ‘noughties’ topic we were looking at t.v. through the ages  and pupils were looking at how the choice and style of television sets  and television programmes on offer has grown.

By the ‘noughties’  televisions had gown bigger and slimmer and children used different sized shoe boxes to highlight the era they were looking at.

As we work our way towards the end of Term 3,  P5i and P5m 

will be completing their rotational fitness stations with gymnastics. Today pupils enjoyed throwing, jumping and running as they competed against each other in the hurdles, javelin, long jump, hurdles, shot put and triple jump. We think a little more practice might be needed before we can identify future Olympians.

P5E combined their drama skills with literacy.

After reading some chapters of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory pupils and their groups were asked to create a freeze frame showing a key moment or scene they read about (some groups even included props).  We then had to guess which moment they were recreating.

Pupils then became the characters in the scene and told us what that character was thinking in that moment.

Pupils were excellent in this task demonstrating their knowledge of characters and story and Miss Ellis was very impressed with their talent.

Pupils have a new 6 week spelling grid starting this week with dictionary work.

Maths homework is revision of 3D shape.

Many parents have requested times for Parent’s Night on 21st March. Should any parent be unable to attend on that date, please let me know and I can arrange to see you any other day after school.
