PATHS Lesson

This year we are beginning a new curriculum called the PATHS Programme.  We will have PATHS lessons twice a week during which we will cover many topics including: Friendship, Recognise and Understand Feelings, Use Thinking Skills and ways to solve problems.

We would like to ask your assistance in occasionally helping your child complete a Home Activity.  You will already find children coming home with Compliments Lists for them too.  We will keep you up-to-date as we are going along.  If you have any questions, please let us know.  This is a whole school initiative and will continue throughout their full education.

Remember to log into your Bug Club account and choose books to read. By clicking on the ‘bugs’ that appear on the pages you can practise your reading comprehension too. Don’t forget that you can go into your Bug Club Library to read books again. This is a good way of improving the fluency of your reading, as the story and tricky words will already be familiar to you.

Check the Heinemann Active Maths link in Bug Club too as your teacher may have allocated you a maths game to practise learning that we have done in class.

If you are struggling to log in to your Bug Club account then you could try accessing through the Google Chrome browser, try updating ‘cookie’ settings or ask your teacher/school for help.

Primary 3 Dean Park Ranger Session – Thursday 29th October 2020

See the source image

On Thursday our very lucky Primary 3 classes will each be taking part in an outdoor learning session with Rangers from the Dean Park. The Rangers are coming to work with us outside in areas near to the school (we are not going to the Dean Park on this occasion). This will be an exciting opportunity to explore and learn more about the nature right on our doorstep!

Please could all children come to school with waterproof jackets and wellies (if possible or suitable outdoors footwear), so that they are dressed appropriately and can stay cosy, dry and enjoy their time learning outside.

It looks like the weather might be quite wet on Thursday, so it would be a good idea to also bring a change of trousers, socks and shoes to change into afterwards in case we get wet.

The session times have been organised so that children will have their usual snack and lunch times in school.

There are sure to be some excited children coming home and keen to tell you all about their learning on Thursday!

Ness Reading Festival and ‘Go Green for MacMillan’

Hi P3,

Just a wee reminder of the two events that are happening tomorrow.

It’s our ‘Go Green for MacMillan’ event to raise funds for the MacMillan charity. If you have something green at home to wear then please wear it tomorrow. If you don’t have any green clothes then you can ‘dress down’ for the day (please see the School blog for more details). If you want to wear your school uniform then that’s ok too.

Ness Reading Festival

Tomorrow we will be taking part in the Ness Reading Festival. The aim of this Festival is to get as many children as possible across Scotland to sit down and read a book at the same time.

If you have a favourite book that you would like to bring to school tomorrow then please bring it. We have lots of great books in school to read too; so don’t worry if you don’t want to bring in a book from home.

Tomorrow morning, at the same time, we will all ‘drop everything and read!’

Stay safe and see you tomorrow!

Road Safety Week

This week is Road Safety Week in P3!

All of the P3 classes will be learning about Road Safety this week; which is especially important at this time of year when the weather is getting more wintery and it’s getting dark earlier and earlier.

The Road Sense Scotland website has some cartoon clips, games and quizzes for you to do at home. Here is a link-

https://roadsafety.scot/learning-zone/first/green-cross-code-phrases/

Please have a look at the Road Sense Scotland website at home with your child and practice the Green Cross Code with them when you are out and about.

Thanks for your help!

Stay safe x
