P1 Transition 2023
The children within the ECC who are due to start school in August 2023 have been taking part in our transition programme. We are very fortunate at Newmilns ECC that we are part of the school and are able to use the school for various things like gym sessions, lunch and joining the school for different events.
They have visited the classroom numerous times to share stories and joined p1 for their Burns celebration singing ‘you cannae shove yer granny’.
The children have been introduced to Toby the school bear who visits the ECC and P1. The children have asked questions about school and Toby has took these questions to p1 for them to answer. Toby also brought us a school uniform along to see what we will wear in p1 and we have been exploring our school role play area.
We have met our p6 buddies who will help us when we start in p1. Our buddies have came to play with us in the playroom and we have enjoyed playtime in the playground with our buddies and Mrs McCracken. In June we will have a buddy morning where we will visit the local woods with Mrs McCracken and our buddies.
Children have received an invitation for “come dine with us” inviting a parent/carer to come along and enjoy lunch with us on 1st June.
The finale will be on Friday 23rd June when we will all “Graduate” from the ECC to P1 at our end of year celebration. We have been practising hard for this and can’t wait to invite you along.
We are all so excited to start school and there has been loads of conversations around this with the children.
