Sacrament of Confirmation-Reminder

A reminder of the upcoming dates etc for pupil Confirmation. Those children making their Confirmation should provide their teacher with the name of their sponsor (age 16+) and where they were baptised.

Baby News!!!

We are all delighted here at Mount Carmel Primary to announce that Mrs McGahon had a beautiful baby girl called Cora  on Friday !

We are sure you will join us in wishing Mrs McGahon and her family huge congratulations !

Property Pledge- Silver Award

Mount Carmel Primary are delighted to have received a Silver Award following a visit from East Ayrshire Council in relation to their Property Pledge! One of the points raised was that we should have extra recycling stations in and around the school, which we have now implemented.

Here is a look at our newly refurbished Infant Dept, which we are super proud of !. We are sure you will agree it is looking fantastic! 

Reminder-Change to school lunches

A friendly reminder that there will  be a change to the menu for school lunches for tomorrow (9th September) and Friday (10th September). Changes are as follows:

Thursday 9th September

Red – gammon sandwich

Blue – Tuna sandwich

Green – Cheese sandwich

 

Friday 10th September

Red – Fish and chips

Blue – Macaroni cheese

Green – Egg sandwich

Absence Procedures

In the event that your child is going to be absent from school please contact the school on 01563 525897 prior to 9.15am.

   Press option 2  to report a child absence and leave a voicemail clearly stating your child’s name, class and the reason for absence. Please do not leave a child absence message via the school query form or by emailing teachers direct.

P E Days

As of Monday 23rd August each class will have 1 indoor and 1 outdoor session of PE per week.  The PE days will be as follows –

P1 –  Monday and Thursday **Updated**

P1/2 – Monday and Thursday

P2/3 – Tuesday and Thursday **Updated**

P4 – Tuesday and Thursday

P5 – Monday and Friday

P6 – Wednesday and Friday

P7 –  Tuesday and Wednesday

We ask that on PE days children come to school wearing their school polo shirt and sweatshirt with plain tracksuit bottoms/leggings and trainers. They should also have a pair of gym shoes to change into for indoor sessions – these will be kept in school.

Flu Vaccine Permission Forms

We are expecting pupil Flu vaccination permission forms delivered today. These will be distributed to all pupils on their arrival. 

All completed forms must be returned to the school no later than Friday 10th September, as vaccines will be given week commencing 13th September. 

Vaccines will only be administered with a completed permission form.

Contacting Class Teachers

If you require to speak with your child’s class teacher for any reason, please phone the office and speak with a member of staff who will pass your details on to the relevant teacher. You can also submit your request through our contact form above.

Toys in School

Just a friendly reminder that we prefer if children do not bring toys, including Poppits, into school.  Apart from the Covid aspect , there is also the possibility of toys being lost or damaged.

Arrangements for your child starting school

Arrangements for Starting School 
 
Thursday 19th August 
  • All P1 pupils are invited to our infant school playground from 9.15am.
  • We ask that pupils are accompanied by no more than 2 adults who should wear face coverings and maintain social distancing from other families.
  • Between 9.15am and 9.30am there will be the opportunity to take photographs in front of our ‘My First Day in P1’ photo booth board.
  • At 9.30am P1 pupils will be collected by Mrs Dunsmore and Mrs Duff.
Friday 20th August 
  • All P1 pupils to be lined up and ready for teacher collection at 9.15am. 
  • Pupils may be accompanied by no more than 2 adults following social distancing measures.
Monday 23rd August – Friday 27th August
  • All P1 pupils to be lined up and ready for teacher collection at 9.00am.
  • Pupils may be accompanied by no more than 2 adults following social distancing measures.
Monday 30th August onwards 
  • All new P1 pupils to be lined up and ready for teacher collection at 9.00am.
  • Adults should leave children at the infant school gate where they will be welcomed by a member of school staff.

New P1 Welcome Gift Bags

As we enjoy our final week of term  in Mount Carmel, we are busy preparing for the start of our next school year. 

We have prepared very special gift bags to welcome your child to Mount Carmel. As well as some lovely starting school treats, these bags include the P1 2021 Yearbook and information about the House Teams.

Gift bags are labelled with each child’s name and will be available to collect outside our main school entrance on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday ( until 12.00pm) of this week. When collecting gift bags, we ask that adults please wear face coverings and maintain social distancing .

School Holiday Information

It was agreed that Option 1 of the Proposed School Holiday Arrangements report submitted to Cabinet on 16 June 2021 be approved as the school holiday arrangements for academic session 2022/2023. ​

In addition, please note an update to the School Holidays for 2021/2022.  The local holiday on Monday 30 May 2022 is subject to change in alignment with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
