Hello Boys and Girls,

I can’t believe we are nearly at the end of October. Time certainly flies by when you’re having fun! We have another busy week this week and I am really looking forward to spending it with you all.

Please find this weeks homework tasks below. Remember your homework should be handed in on a Thursday.

Reading

Each group have been given their reading book home. Practise reading aloud each night. Remember to bring your book to school everyday.

Chimps- Dark Stone Eye (Chapters 3 and 4)

Sloths- The Quigleys Wild Life (Chapter 1 and 2)

Toucans- All at Sea (Chapters 3 and 4)  Birds of Prey (Pages 12-29)

Spelling

Parrots- Copy spelling words 2 more times. Draw a picture for each word and write the word underneath.

Blue- Copy spelling words 2 more times. Complete 6 sentences using a different word in each sentence. Remember to underline the word you have used. Check over your work to ensure you have capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. Can you use different types of punctuation?

Yellow- Copy spelling words 2 more times. Make a phoneme story which includes all of your spelling words. Remember to underline the words you use from your list. Are you able to challenge yourself by using different types of punctuation?

Green- Copy spelling words 2 more times. Make a phoneme story which includes all of your spelling words. Remember to underline the words you use from your list.  Are you able to challenge yourself to include adverbs? Underline them if you are able to.

 

On Friday we have our first session outdoors for Rugby. Please remember to come with suitable shoes for outdoors.

You have been set a challenge on Sumdog this week for numeracy. I would like you to attempt all questions. I can’t wait to see how you get on. Good luck!

 

IDL:

Well done for completing your space project. I absolutely love how creative you have all been. This week we are going to prepare a talk to present to the class. We will be presenting our planets next week as part of a ‘Solo Talk’. I am looking for you to present the following information about your planets:

Planet Name 

Planet Size 

Who lives on your planet? 

What recyclable materials did you use to make your planet? 

Why did you choose to make the planet you made? 

What is your favourite part of your planet? 

Your talk should last no longer than 2 minutes. You could create a poster containing all of this information to present alongside your planet to the class. If you need any materials please ask.

We have been working very hard to revise our common words. I have allocated you a task on Sumdog to complete. Remember to use your strategies to help you spell these words.

I have allocated you all a task on Sumdog called ‘Numeracy Homework Task’. Please ensure you complete the correct and complete this for Friday. I can’t wait to see how you all get on!

IDL:

Your space projects are due this week. Remember if you need any help or materials you can ask me and I will do my best to help you. Bring your project to school on Friday 11th June.

IDL:  Last week you were given the task to plan your own planet. I absolutely loved your ideas and I am really looking forward to this ongoing project. We are going to be creating these planets over the next couple of weeks. This week I would like you to draw me a plan of how you are going to create this planet. I am looking for these planet to be made out of as many recycled products as possible. Draw and label these on your plan.

This week in topic we have been working on our researching skills. We have used Google as a search engine to find out information. I would like you to research the moon. In your jotter/paper I would like you to answer the following questions:

What is the temperature on the moon?

What is the distance from the moon to Earth?

Who was the first person to land on the moon?

Write down 3 interesting facts about the moon.

I would like you to create a mnemonic for the order of the planets. Take a look at the example below. I am looking for this to be very creative. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Reflection Task: 

Working and learning at home has been a really different and sometimes challenging experience. Use the reflection sheet to think about your time spent working from home. Then think about going back to school. Discuss with an adult what you are excited about but also any worries and concerns. Record them on the second page of the sheet.
