We went on a minibeast hunt and looked closely at what we found through the magnifying lenses on our bug tubs and pots. we found wood louse, different types of flies, millipedes, centipedes, spiders, slugs and snails.

p4/5 at ASSIST conference
As part of a homework challenge P4/5 were asked to create a presentation by Vicky McWilliam from the EAC Clean Green Award that could be presented to 32 local authorities at the ASSIST conference in Glasgow. The pupils created some outstanding presentations summarising all that we do in Fenwick Primary to reduce food waste.
Jessica, Ilaria and Lily came along to the conference and confidently delivered their presentation. Fantastic job!!
Dinnae for get your caddy Award p4/5 and p7
Well done to Henry and Harriet who won ‘Dinnae Forget your Caddy’ with the name ‘Ariana Binday.’ Vicky from EAC Clean Green Award and Lorna the Community Waste Officer came in to present the gift voucher to Harriet, Henry and their mum. Well done!
p4/5 STEM award
P4/5 received their STEM award for the construction of the greenhouse made out of recycled plastic bottles. The pupils worked collaboratively using science, technology, engineering and maths to achieve a successful outcome in this project.
P4/5 Literacy
We created a climate Manifesto and wrote a report on recycling and on Climate Change.
p4/5 Eco
Primary 4/5 went litter picking in the garden, began to fix the bug hotel, built more of the greenhouse and checked the planters for signs of bulbs growing. So far the daffodils are all out and 2 of the bulbs we planted have bloomed.

The pupils were all involved in measuring, sawing, drilling and cutting as we put together the Eco friendly greenhouse made with recycled bottles.
P4/5 Eco Greenhouse
With the recycled plastic bottles that have been donated we drilled the caps to the wood then added on the bottles at the bottom. Next step is to thread the canes through the bottles. The children all demonstrated great technology skills.
P4/5 outdoor learning
For Valentine’s Day we created hearts from natural materials. We also made heart bookmarks to celebrate our love of reading.
