The focus this term as part of our learning in Health and Wellbeing is to explore different occupations. Primary 2/3 were looking at different careers in the field of science. They have identified some excellent careers on their worksheets. See a selection below.
With Mrs Conetta last Wednesday, P2/3 explored symmetry through a range of activities including painting a symmetrical scarf, making snowflakes and creating symmetrical patterns with numicon.
P2/3 made right angle checkers today and explored the classroom to find objects with right angles and angles bigger or smaller than right angles.
We have been learning about medicines, harmless and harmful substances. In pairs or trios, the class were given scenario cards and asked to act out the situation. Â Everyone was fantastic in their roles and responded appropriately to the scenarios they were given.
The Circles and Triangles have been programming the beebots to travel about their grid to find treasure.
The Rectangles and Squares have been looking at developing their directions by using the terms clockwise, anti-clockwise, 1/2 and 1/4 turns. They created their own Lego town and then wrote directions to direct each other to different locations.
We applied our knowledge and skills in Numeracy outdoors today. Â We gathered outdoor materials, create a grid reference map and added materials we found for our peers to locate using grid references.
We had a very busy PE session this morning practising our forehand shot. Â Mrs Conetta had some fabulous helpers taking the photos while she worked with groups at the net. Thank you!
For our Numeracy and Maths warm-up today, we revised positional language using the song, Cha Cha Slide!
We learnt about grid references and created our own grid reference map. We then swapped with a partner who had find the grid reference locations of the objects drawn.
Last week we began to learn about positional language and how important knowing these words were. Â We came up with a list of important words. Â Here are some we thought of: left, right, forward, backwards, beside, under, on.
Today, P2/3 came up with long list of jobs in which people need to use positional language. Here are a few examples, police officers, ambulance drivers, nurses, doctors, pilots, taxi and bus drivers.
We have been using positional language to direct each other in the playground to different coloured markers, to find objects on a treasure map with the help of Lego figures to help with left and right and becoming familiar with using the Beebots.
We started our new focus in PE today. Â We are going to be developing our tennis skills over the coming weeks. Â Today we focused on ball and racquet familiarisation.
