P2/3 World Book Day

World Book Day 2022

Primary 2/3 had great fun today for World Book Day.
Lots of the pupils came in with super costumes to show their favourite characters from their favourite story.

We started our day off with a lovely surprise which was listening and watching Mrs Vivers (Oscar’s mum) reading two chapters of a wonderful book on the Promethean board. The book was called Bob and the house elves and the pupils loved listening to it then making predictions about what might happen in Chapter 3. Miss Thomson read chapter 3 and 4 to the class at the end of the day to see how accurate the predictions were. We have decided that we will get this book for the class to continue as our reading for enjoyment book since we have recently finished The Twits.

We created some fantastic bookmarks. Some pupils decided to have their name on their bookmark, some pupils decided to decorate their bookmark with details of their favourite book and some pupils decided they wanted just to decorate their bookmark with some lovely pictures. The bookmarks will be laminated once everybody has finished them and sent home tomorrow.

During assembly, Mrs Ross put together a World Book Day quiz where each class had to guess the character based on the picture clues she provided. Our class guessed ours correctly. I wonder if the parents can get it right by looking at the clue below?

We also enjoyed listening to Reverend Kim as she prepared a recording for the whole school all about World Book Day and the importance of reading.

This afternoon, we went outside to join Primary 7 with our favourite book. Primary 7 read to Primary 2/3 which the pupils loved. P7 were very responsible and welcoming when doing this which was lovely to see.

Finally, last but not least we completed a Rights Respecting Schools lesson this afternoon focusing on our Article of the Week which you can see below. We made links to World Book Day and discussed some of the points in the picture below before completing a task linked to this.Â
