We had so much fun watching the pantomime today …oh no you didn’t! Oh yes we definitely did!!
One of the birthday girls in our class even got to go on to the stage and help out with one of the songs!

P4/5 Class Library Refresh
Today everyone had the chance to choose some new books for our class library.
The Reading Schools Committee sent us a box of donated books for us to have a look through and choose to restock our class library. Mrs Ross had also been to a charity shop and chosen some books for us to look through too.
Everyone found some new authors and titles to try.
We were also delighted to find that the mobile library had also listened to some of our requests and ordered in some animal books and escape room books for us to read in class.

Christmas Jumper Day and School Fayre
Everyone got in to the festive spirit and wore their Christmas jumper to school today.
We also enjoyed singing at our Christmas Fayre and spending time with our families, buying lots of Christmassy things at all the stalls.
It was a really busy day and we were excited to hear how much money had been raised.

P4/5 St Andrew’s Day Reading Record Challenge
St Andrew’s Day Reading Record
On Wednesday we took part in a reading challenge with other schools across Scotland. We all took time in class to read books written by Scottish authors or about Scotland.
We really enjoyed this challenge and were amazed to hear that 12,605 pupils across Scotland 🏴 took part in this record breaking reading challenge !
P4/5 Hallhouse Visit
Hallhouse Visit
This afternoon we walked in the sunshine to Hallhouse Care Home. The residents had been looking forward to our visit and were all ready for us in their lounge.
Some of the class felt nervous about reading and did not not know what to expect but once we introduced ourselves and sat down to read our nerves disappeared and everyone read beautifully.
We all agreed that it was a lovely way to spend the afternoon and Claire from the care home told us that we had put a smile on everyone’s face. Mrs Ross and Mrs Moore were very proud of us all.
We are looking forward to going back down soon and sharing our reading again.

Mobile Library Visit
We enjoyed another visit to the mobile library today.
We returned the books that we had borrowed on our last visit and chose a new book to enjoy in class.

This week we learned all about pattern using zentangles. We practised making different patterns using fine black pens.

We then transferred this skill on to our pumpkin drawings.
We think they look really effective.
Our pumpkins have been displayed in our classroom all ready for Hallowe’en when we return after the holidays.
P4/5 Mobile Library Visit
Mobile Library Visit
Today we were very excited to have an opportunity to choose a book from East Ayrshire’s mobile library van. Mrs Sweeney organised this visit for us as part of our journey to become a Reading School.
We were amazed by the selection of books in the van. Everyone took their time to look at the covers, read the blurbs and then help each other to choose. These books will stay in school.
Afterwards, we spent some time in the shelter exploring our books and sharing the titles we had chosen with each other. We can’t wait for our next visit and to choose another book in a couple of weeks time.
