Reading to our Hallhouse Buddies
After a very busy first week back after the holidays, we enjoyed a walk in the sunshine to Hallhouse.
The residents welcomed us again and we enjoyed sharing our new Bug Club novels with everyone.
The staff enjoyed listening too and made us all a drink of juice before our walk back to school.
Everyone always enjoys our visits and we all end up with a huge smile on our faces.
We had a busy day on Friday.
Everyone enjoyed dressing down with lots of red to celebrate Red Nose Day.
We loved making red nose day biscuits. They tasted delicious and were a sweet treat for our Friday afternoon fun.
Art and Design
🌟 So much talent in p4/5. These girls designed and crafted a beautiful paper home and stylish clothes for their handmade paper dolls. Creativity and imagination knows no bounds in our classroom! #FutureDesigners #STEM 🌟
What a great time everyone had at the Science Centre today.
🌟Primary 4/5 once again demonstrated our school values throughout the day and made all the staff and parents very proud of them! 🌟
Planetarium
We learned all about the planets and stars during our visit to the planetarium. We explored the different constellations and learned how to find the North Star in the sky. We also travelled in to space to look at the planets in our universe.
Exploring Floor 1
We then had time to investigate, explore, learn and play together on the different levels of the science centre.
Floor 2 and 3
After lunch we visited the Bodywork’s and Powering the Future Floors.
We all agreed that the highlights of our day were ; Planetarium, Dance Mat – generate the energy and spending the day together exploring and having fun.
A huge thank you to Regan and Riley’s Mum,Kerry for coming to help us to make our day run smoothly and helping us to have so much fun.
P5/6 Leading the Learning in P4/5
Today some confident, kind and respectful primary 6s visited our class to teach our class how to play Spelling Battleships.
They explained the rules clearly and demonstrated the game in an engaging and interesting way. We all loved learning from them.
We then enjoyed playing a few games in pairs. A great new way for us to practise our spelling.
Yesterday the sun was shining and we decided to spend the afternoon outdoors trying out some of our outdoor equipment.
Reading Visit to Hallhouse Care Home
Today we walked in the sunshine to Hallhouse Care Home to read to the residents.
In class this morning, we chose a book and then made postcards to give to all the residents to let them know how much we love to read.
We had a lovely afternoon sharing our reading, spreading joy and sharing a smile with everyone we met.
All the staff commented on what lovely, polite children we are and how kind and respectful we are.
We are happy to demonstrate our school values wherever we go.
Danny Champion of the World
Book Reviews
This week we have finished reading Danny Champion of the World by Roald Dahl. We all agreed that we have loved this story and laughed at lots of the funny incidents that happened and all of the crazy characters.
We created Dodecahedron Book Reviews with everyone adding different information. We wrote about the main characters, favourite chapters, new title ideas and created new covers for the book.
We hope that they might inspire others to read this novel.
We think they look great on our wall display. Lots of classes and teachers have been asking us all about them. We hope that some parents might look at them on Parents Evening.
Homework
Please remember to check our class Teams Page for Homework updates.
We will be practising how to access your Teams page in class this week.
Our homework this week, is to complete an application form for our School Improvement Committee.
