JRSO group – Catrine Primary Street School

Hi a wee reminder that our school street is open on Saturdays and Sundays all day.

On Monday to Friday it is not open in these times 8:45am to 9:30am and 2:30pm to 3:20pm.

Please keep your cars out of our school street and keep our pupils safe!

Make Catrine Sparkle

Make Catrine Sparkle – Sunday 3rd December
All of our pupils were involved in making lanterns for the Make Catrine Sparkle parade which is taking place this Sunday, 3rd December.
Lanterns can be collected from the Lodge St John from 4.00pm, with the parade starting from the top shops at 5.00pm.
Catrine PS pupils have been learning some Christmas songs in school, and we will be having a community singalong in the Square when the parade is finished (aiming for a 5.45pm start).  Any pupils, family and friends who would like to join us in a wee Christmas singalong should meet us in the Square from 5.30pm.
Remember to wrap up warmly on Sunday – the forecast is for a very cold and frosty night, just perfect for helping to
Make Catrine Sparkle!   Thanks, Mrs Govans

JRSO – Be Bright, Be Seen Day

Our JRSO Committee Group organised a ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ dress down day today and loved seeing all the brightly coloured clothes that pupils came to school wearing. It is important to remember that cars can’t always see us crossing the road as it is now much darker in the mornings and at night.

Our P6/7 Committee Group members chose a winner from each class for the brightest outfit. The winners were:

P1: Jake

P2/3: Layla

P3/4: Oscar

P4/5: Tristan

P5/6: Ayden

P6/7: Millie

Well done everyone!

Homework Consultation

At our Parents Night in October, we asked parents/carers for their views on Homework – and the comments confirmed our thoughts that there is a very wide range of opinions on the benefits and necessity of homework coming home from school.

As a staff we value your input and will take all of your suggestions and comments into consideration as we continue to review our homework policy and provision.  We will, as always, update you with any changes.

Please have a read through the collated comments, and thanks to everyone who contributed their thoughts.  Mrs Govans

Literacy morning

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Literacy Open Morning today, despite the horrible weather!

Our pupils and staff really enjoyed showing off their Literacy learning and we hope you had a great time looking at our work and displays.

P1, P2 and P3 pupils were presented with their Bookbug and Read, Write, Count book bags – we’re sure you’ll have a lovely time reading and learning together at home.

Thanks to Captains Georgia and Marley for the photos 🤩

Clean Green Campaign

Thank you to everyone that contributed to our recent Dress Down Day on 13th October.

The dress down day was inconjuntion with the Clean Green Campaign. Georgia and Kaylie’s  aim was to purchase a new recycling bin to reduce plastic waste in the school and school playground.

Our bin has arrived and will hopefully be full of plastic waste soon.

Well done girls.

Rights Respecting School @ September Home Circles

In our September Home Circles we highlighted Article 12 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child which states that every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously.  This right applies at all times: during immigration proceedings, housing decisions or the child’s day to day home life.

Our questions were –

When is your opinion listened to in Catrine PS? When is your voice heard?

Why is it important that your opinion is listened to?  Why should your voice be heard?

Have a read through our answers from our Home Circles jotters …
