P3 have been hard at work again this week.
Literacy
Pupils are continuing to develop their comprehension of texts in reading. The bananas were looking at predicting this week and could use information from the title and blurb to create a cover for their new book.
P3 also had time to redraft their narrative stories in order to improve them. They were able to enhance their word choice and add more detail to create a fantastic beginning to their stories!
Numeracy
P3 have been exploring a new Number Talks strategy this week. They have been using their knowledge of friendly numbers to make a ten when adding and bridging, and can use an empty number line to help them with this strategy.
The pupils are continuing to develop their understanding of bar graphs in maths and can confidently enter data into spreadsheets to create bar graphs using ICT equipment.
Other Curricular Areas
P3 pupils have been exploring warm and cool colours in art. The pupils were able to identify which colours were cool and warm colours using a colour wheel and could use this knowledge to create artwork to explore the ideas of night and day.
Additionally, P3 have been learning all about the heart in science this week. They firstly took notes from videos to investigate the function of the heart and to find out where it is located in the body. This involved looking at a real pig’s heart! P3 also explored different ways that they can keep their heart healthy, which include maintaining a healthy diet and taking part in daily exercise. They then enjoyed staying active in class by taking part in a work out with Joe Wicks as part of the BBC Children in Need activities.
As well as this, pupils participated in Mindfulness with Dr Ranj. This involved the pupils practising several different mindfulness techniques which they can now use to allow them to feel relaxed, calm and to look after their mental wellbeing.
