What an amazing day P5-7 had at Sheuchan on Monday with the musicians and performers from the Scottish Opera. Our school community has been busy working on our Rights Respecting School award (RRSA). . Today, we have been awarded our Bronze award. This means we are ‘Rights Committed’. A certificate will be sent to us in the next couple of weeks. To achieve this, we have had to show evidence that: Our next step is to work towards achieving our silver award. Today P5-7 had a few lessons in Financial Education. The topics covered were: The lessons were streamed live through Teams and the children found the information very interesting and useful. There were interactive quizzes and questions throughout so the whole class could get involved. On Wednesday we had Mrs Hall in from DG STEM to show P5-7 how to work Microbits. The children were introduced to a coding website and learned how to make patterns on the screen. We are very excited for our SCIAF (Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund) fundraising day on March 15th when the Enterprise Group have decided we are coming with crazy hair and/or non-uniform! We have asked that children bring in a small donation if they can for the SCIAF who help change lives worldwide! It is British Science Week and today we held our science open afternoon! We had an amazing turn out of parents and carers who came to support the children and explore some fun activities with them. Some of our P5-7’s took the lead at tables We explored coding, conducting electricity and forces such as magnetism, buoyancy and friction testing. Our lemon volcanos and cornflour slime stations were particularly popular…and messy!
With St. Patrick’s Day coming up this Sunday, Donna and Natasha came back to the school to make more crafts with both classes – this time with a green theme! P1-4 made leprechaun masks and paintings, whilst P5-7 made leprechaun gonks, as previously asked for by Ry. We do try our best to listen to our pupils’ suggestions when we can! Last Wednesday, 6th March, Ry, Rubie and Ava G. attended the annual Burns Recital at the Ryan Centre. Ry recited ‘King O the Midden’ by James McGonigal, Ava G. recited ‘Last Nicht’ by Aimee Chalmers and Rubie sang ‘The Skye Boat Song’. All 3 pupils represented our school wonderfully and spoke with fluency and expression. Rubie placed joint third in her singing category! Each pupil reached a Walter Wellbeing certificate
