π΄ Scots Celebration Showcase π΄
On Wednesday 28th January, we were delighted to welcome families into school for our Scots Celebration Showcase, a wonderful afternoon celebrating Scots language, culture, and creativity. It was a joyful, proud occasion and so well attended – thank you so much to all families who came along to support our pupils.
In the lead-up to the showcase, pupils took part in three Scots competitions:
βοΈ Handwriting β writing their Scots poem in their very best handwriting
π¨ Creative Art β creating a piece of artwork inspired by their poem
π€ Poetry Reciting β confidently learning and performing their Scots poem
We were very grateful to Father Ben, who kindly came into school a few days beforehand to judge all of the entries.

Following the competitions, pupils who were winners – or who chose to – performed their Scots poems for the audience, which was a real highlight of the afternoon.
- P2: Rebecca performed her poem
- P3: Lucas performed for his class
- P4: James confidently shared his poem
- P5: Karlton and Katie performed together
- P6: Jessica and Ava shared their interpretations separately
- P7: Ross and Ava performed their poem together
Each performance showed fantastic confidence, expression, and pride in Scots language – we were incredibly proud of them all.
πΆ Scots Songs
As part of the showcase, pupils also shared their Scots learning through song:
π΅ P1β4 sang Coulterβs Candy
π΅ P5β7 sang Wee Jock Cocksparra
Both performances were wonderful and really added to the celebratory atmosphere.
A special thank you to Ms Whorlow for preparing tea and coffee afterwards – very much appreciated by everyone who stayed to chat and celebrate together.
Thank you once again to all families who joined us – your support means so much. It was a truly lovely celebration of Scots heritage, language, creativity, and confidence, and we are incredibly proud of every pupil who took part. π΄β¨
