– what have we been up to?

The Last Monster in Scotland

The green face paint had been applied, the cast ready and raring to go, and the audience sat in anticipation – it was time for the annual Kirkcolm School show, ‘The Last Monster in Scotland’! Over the last month, pupils have been incredibly busy learning their lines and lyrics – it certainly paid off!
‘The Last Monster in Scotland’ tells the story of hapless journalist Angus Allbright (played by Archie), who is sent to Drumnadrochit on the shores of Loch Ness to investigate a recent sighting of the legendary Nessie (played by Arran). Here, Angus meets the Guardians of the loch (played by Lyle, Phoebe and Ivan) who have dedicated their lives to keeping the legend of Nessie alive. However, famous scientist Cecil Franklin Pyke (played by Hayden) and his team are keen to disprove that Nessie ever existed. Thankfully, Nessie speaks to Angus and tells him an ancient phrase that proves he really has seen Nessie! And Cecil Franklin Pyke is revealed to be disgruntled Hamish McGarrigal who was refused Guardian status over 30 years ago.
The audience were thoroughly entertained, from our American tourists (with their best American accents and very bright Hawaiian shirts!) trying to catch a glimpse of Nessie, to a beautiful duet and even a rendition of Miley Cyrus ‘The Climb’ – the show had it all!
We are so proud of each and every pupil for their effort and performance – they were all brilliant!
Here is the link to the YouTube video if anyone would like to relive the performance all over again –
