Devil’s Porridge Trip

On Friday 3rd November, Dalry S2s went to the Devil’s Porridge Museum near Gretna.  This was to follow up on their topic, World War I.  They were allowed to hold replica rifles and revolvers – “It was enjoyable”, said one S2 pupil, and “The most interesting part was the Gretna Girls, who made the munitions.”  Their skin turned yellow from the chemicals, which is why they were called “the Canary Girls”.
