After learning about French Christmas traditions, Primary 6 & 7 held a French Christmas party. They enjoyed playing Twister with the caller giving the instructions in French. This was followed by a buffet where the children tasted croissants, pain au chocolat, baguette with cherry jam and buche de noel with hot chocolate or fruit juice to drink. After, the children made a Christmas card which they gave to someone in their class. During the party the children had left their shoes in the corridor and, when they went to put them back on at home time, Pere Noel had left sweets in their shoes (a French tradition where children leave a shoe by the fireplace for Father Christmas to place sweets in. It was a fun filled afternoon. Thank you to Mrs McGill for helping with our research and pronunciation, particularly hand (main), foot (pied), left (gauche) and right (droit)

Tremendous Transition…Nursery Visit to P1
This Tuesday P1 were delighted to welcome the children from St Andrew’s Nursery Brooke Street for a visit as part of the school’s transition programme.
After singing some Christmas songs together the primary one children helped the nursery children make ‘melted snowman’ biscuits and pine cone Christmas tree table decorations.
It was great fun and we’re looking forward to seeing the nursery children again next year for more fun times.
Craft Fair Success
Yesterday the children in P2, P3 and P4 got to use their money maths skills as they enthusiastically sold the craft products they had been busy making at our Craft Fair. A great variety of crafts and confectionery/ cakes had been produced by the children in school and the children had to use a variety of skills in their manufacture. It was an amazing turnout and many thanks to all our families and friends for the generous support and positive feedback. Once the children have had a wee bit more time to use their money counting skills we will update you on how much profit was made!
An Update on Lights Camel Action!!!
Hello, ladies and gentleman boys and girls, this is Erin from P6 and Jodi from P7, here to give you some more information about this final few days of our rehearsals for Lights Camel Action. We have been working our socks off, as on Friday 9th of December was 4 days away from our first performance in front of the nursery, Primary 2, Primary 3 and Primary 4. Today we performed in front of those classes. Some of us said it was terrifying. It was a success and we all did really well. The back stage and the actors/actresses people were in the best outfits you could possibly imagine. We updated our programme so when you come on Wednesday or Thursday ,this week, you can do a word search and see who’s acting. Here are some pictures to show you how we have been working our socks off!

Gracefield Art Centre
P2 finished their book topic and artist study by visiting the local Art Centre. The exhibition was ‘Picture Hooks’ and included illustrations from books. The children had great fun looking around the exhibition and were able to complete the quiz sheet. After we had snack and then created our own book covers using pens, crayons and oil pastels. We had a super day.
Carol Service
Last night we held our Carol Service at St Andrew’s Church. All classes were involved and the children sang beautifully. Mrs Anne Murdy has helped us out over the weeks in preparation for this and we are very grateful for her help, Mr Christopher Watt accompanied us on the night which was fantastic.
It was lovely to see the Church so full and have so many sharing in the true Spirit of Christmas.
