On Wednesday this week we had a visit from the Cycle Cinema.  The cinema was powered by our pupils cycling the special bikes which powered the projector.  The children watching got a dance workout at the same time.  It was a fun and healthy way to start our day!

P2 have been following instructions and writing our own. We know we need to be bossy with our words and they need to be clear to read. Last week we wrote our own instructions to make Krispie Cakes and then we followed the instructions to make them! Thankfully the instructions we followed were clear to read and told us how to do it.

 

We were delighted to receive the Gold School Sports Award from Sports Scotland at a special assembly this week.  Our school was assessed on the quality of physical education and school sport, links to community sport, and opportunities for all children and young people to engage, participate and reach their potential in this area.  In particular we were praised  for our leadership programme and our celebration of success through the school blog and pupil achievement books.

The school received  a certificate and a flag.  The photo below appeared in the Dumfries and Galloway Standard and shows our sports committee members celebrating their success:

On Monday this week 10 of our girls took part in an Active Schools Football Festival at Dumfries High School.  Although the weather was not too kind the girls were commended on their team work and lots of superb play.  Thank you to Lee Seton who helped coach the girls for the night.

Imagination was the word of the day in Primary 1 today, we used this in a number of ways.  We painted, created music and used junk to create whatever we wanted. We made amazing creations including rocket ships, boats, castles and police cars. Here are some of our super ideas:
