P1 Homework Challenge

Primary 1 were recently set a homework challenge which combined their topic work on buildings in our environment and maths work on 3d Shape.  The children were to use junk 3d shapes to create a building in our town.  All the creations were amazing and we had such a variety including post offices, pizza shops, burger shops, garages, supermarkets, cafes and cinemas!

The children loved talking about their models and sharing them with other classes and adults at our soft finish.

Scots Assembly

On Friday the whole school joined together on Burns Day to hold a Scots Assembly.   Over recent weeks all classes and nursery have been learning about the Scots language and some have also been looking at Scottish history.

All the children took part in the assembly and enjoyed sharing a great variety of Scots poems, songs and dances.  Some super props had been created too!

Here are a few photos of the children performing:

P7 Rock climbing at Powillimount

There was further Outdoor Education for Primary 7 this week when Alex and Ian (Outdoor Education Instructors) led us in a session of skills development in rock climbing and abseiling.  The weather, particularly on Monday, was fantastic, while enjoying our picnic in the sun you could have mistaken it for a Spring day!  I was so pleased with how well the children listened, behaved and worked.  Very brave and determined young people!  The children had so much fun and learned a lot, even scrambling on the low levels, getting used to balance and finding hand and feet holes.  A fantastic spot just on our doorstep for you all to go and enjoy together!  Well done again P7!

P1 Enrolment

Enrolment of pupils due to start school in August this year will take place in school on Monday 14th of January and Tuesday the 15th of January. All enrolments take place in your catchment school, no matter which school you wish your child to go to. That means that only baptized Catholic children from the St. Andrew’s catchment area should actually enroll in our school next week. Anyone from outside our catchment wishing to send their child to St. Andrew’s will need to make a placement request by doing so at their own catchment school. If any of this is unclear you can contact our school office for clarification.
