P7 and Nursery Puppet Show Preparation

P7 have been working with their O.S.C.A.R buddies this week helping them to make puppets of the characters from their favourite books.  In class P7 are turning these story books into scripts with stage directions and are creating the scenery for the backdrops.  The children are working so well together in the planning and preparation of the shows.  Both the nursery children and P7 are having a great time on this project as you can see and are learning so much from one another.  In a couple of weeks we will be able to present our fantastic productions so watch this space!

Active Girls Week

This week along with our cluster schools, St Teresa’s and St Joseph’s, we are celebrating Active Girls Week.  The girls in each class are being offered an activity to take part in during their lunch time.  After each activity fruit and water are available and everyone who participates receives a certificate.  The girls who have taken part so far  agreed it was a great way to be active during break and it gave them some ideas for playground fun in the future.

The importance of being there for our children

The video below comes from the NHS. It gives a background to why it is important to be there for our children. We all experience adverse situations at points in our lives. The video expresses the need for us to continue to be there for each other when these things happen. Our children have already built such ideas into the values of our school. Even though we openly acknowledge that we cannot find a solution to everything, at least together we have a better chance of helping one other when hard times arise.

Primary 1 Maths Fun!

This week in Primary 1 we have been practising our positional language including words like under, beneath, next to, inside and between.  Yesterday we took toy animals out to the playground and gave each other instructions as to where to put them.  Today we designed our own obstacle courses in PE and used the language of position to describe our movements.  Here are some photos of both activities:

Catholic Schools Good For Scotland

Last week Mr.V drove two of our P7 pupils to Glasgow Film Theatre for the premier of a documentary to celebrate 100 years since the education act that enabled Catholic Schools to come under state control. Caitlin and Owen were two of our pupils who were filmed as part of the documentary so were invited to its launch. The film is available to view now on Youtube – link below.
