Chinese Fakeaway Fun🇨🇳🥢
As part of their social studies topic, China, P4-7 today had a go at making a Chinese ‘fakeaway’. We had a look at some traditional Chinese dishes, chopsticks, and discussed some of the Chinese food we’ve tried at home. 🥢.
Today we had a go at making some vegetable spring rolls and seasoned chips with curry sauce, of course!😋 We chopped some potatoes, grated some vegetables and practised the art of rolling the perfect spring roll. Then popped our chips into the air fryer with some delicious Chinese 5 spice and our spring rolls into the oven to crisp. 20 minutes later, voila! we had some delicious Chinese favourites to try! And enjoy we did- the boys and girls all agreed that the recipe was quick, easy and one they’d love to try again at home. 🤩

The Bill Adams Memorial Cup⚽🏆
We are super proud of our fabulous football team who took part in the Bill Adams Memorial Cup on Friday afternoon at the Stuart Binnie Arena. ⚽🏆The team, made up of boys and girls from Leswalt and Kirkcolm played exceptionally well and managed to win one of their games! Well done to everybody who took part and Miss Agnew, our fantastic football coach!😁Our fantastic footballers all received a medal, kindly donated by Bill’s family. We look forward to handing these out at the end of term Closing Ceremony🏅.
Sports Day Success!😀🏃🏼
Today was the day, we’d all been waiting for. Mrs Baillie had checked the weather, once, twice, one hundred times hoping for a dry afternoon, and that’s exactly what we got!🤞 With our eggs, spoons, sacks and ropes at the ready, we trooped over the park for our annual sports day!😄
Over the past couple of weeks, we had been heading over to the park for some practice and today the boys and girls were very excited to show off their racing skills to their friends and families. 🏅Our fabulous House Captains, Colin (Lochnaw) and Rachael (Soleburn) had organised for us to take part in a full programme of events; the sprint, skipping, sack, egg and spoon, obstacle and long-distance races and finally the relay.
Our Fabulous P7 House Captains
A big thank you to all the families and supporters who came along this afternoon and created such a lovely atmosphere and to Rachael and Colin our fabulous P7 House Captains for their great organisation and for keeping everything running like clockwork. 🫡And to Gordon from the shop who kindly donated a well needed bottle of water for every pupil and a caramel egg – a perfect sweet surprise to finish a fabulous Friday!🍫
It was so lovely to watch everybody demonstrate such fantastic sportsmanship, encouraging one another and giving everything their best go! The atmosphere was filled with laughter, encouragement, applause and the occasional dramatic finish-line finish! we had some tired legs and smiling faces by the end and plenty of funny tales to tell. Sports day is always a great way to show that winning od always exciting, but it’s the taking part and having fun that makes the afternoon so special and our fabulous Leswalt crew exemplify this amazingly! We are so incredibly proud of everybody and hope they are too!😍
Results to follow next week, and our Sports Champion boy and girl this year to be revealed at the Closing Ceremony.. but for now, enjoy some funny action shots!😅🙂

Leswalt’s Sweet ‘Cream Teas’ Fundraiser 🍰🫖
In the hallway, Mr and Mrs McGregor sold raffle tickets and our P1-3 class offered recipe books, a bottle stall and a selection of school uniform! Meanwhile, P4-7 had been busy grafting away at their stall in the ‘big class.’ 🍾🎟️
- Rebecca, Rachael and Olivia’s ‘Lemonade Stand’ got some fantastic feedback as the girls hand-made and sold their own lemonade🍋.
- Keira, Emma and Thea’s lollipop in the sand was a big hit and their ‘animal fidget’ prizes proved very tempting.🍭
- Our wonderful beauticians; Hannah, Lily and Eilidh had queues of children and adults lining up to have their nails painted and be glitter tattooed!✨
- Colin and Ross went with the timeless favourite; guess the panda bear’s birthday and how may sweets are in the jar, which as always, was a massive hit.🐼
- And our fabulous footballers has their work cut out for them outside with their ‘Beat the Goalie’ stall in the sunshine.⚽
It was so lovely to see all the boys and girls having fun and for their fabulous enterprise ideas to come to fruition. 🙂
All in all, it was a very successful afternoon! All made possible by the dedicated hard work of all parents who contributed in any way to the running of the day. Not to mention the pupils who worked hard to plan and run their stalls. We really appreciate how everybody in our school community comes together to make little Leswalt such a lovely place to be!🥰

P7 Visit Stranraer Academy 🚌🏫🎒
Yesterday, Primary 7’s from Leswalt buddied up with their P7 friends from Kirkcolm for a visit to Stranraer Academy to help them get their bearings and feel prepared for their next step after the summer holidays. Their morning started with a trip to Art with Mrs Thompson, where they designed their own super heroes! How cool!🦸🏼Afterwards, their visited the Home Economics department and made a cheese toastie! 🧀
They enjoyed some lunch in the canteen, where they got to choose from lots of hot and cold options, but pasta king seemed to be super popular among our Primary 7’s! We look forward to our next visit to the Academy in June.
