Joining Team Holywood

Holywood is a very nice school. It is amazing. I like that all the pupils are very nice to me.

It is different because there are less pupils. I work with lots of teachers.

On a Thursday we work with four different teachers. One for art, one for Outdoor skills, one for PE and one for music.

My favourite part of Big Thursday is going out to the woods.

Learning in P1/2

This week we have been learning about different dances in the 1980s.

We have been doing the Michael Jackson Thriller dance. We like the monster arms.

We have also learned about toys and films from the 1980s. There are some that we like again now. Daniel likes Ghostbusters. Rhona likes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

We were roasting marshmallows in the woods with Mr. Walker on Big Thursday.

We have also been very busy with reading work and learning our sounds. This week P1s have done lots of practise of s a t p i n.

P2s had a maths assessment this week – they were excited to start them again!

Back to Holywood School.

Primary 3/4 were very excited but nervous about coming back to school because they have a new classroom, a new teacher and new books and toys. They also have a new pupil in their class named Oliver, who they were very excited to meet.

The P4’s now have locker keys and they think it’s awesome!

In Health and Wellbeing the P3/4’s have been creating posters about times that make them feel joy. We used the Disney film Inside Out to help us understand our emotions.

In our IDL/ topic we have been learning about dance around the world. We really enjoyed learning about Indian Bhangra dance, creating our own costumes and performing our own dance.

The P3/4’s have made Miss McIntyre feel very welcome to Holywood school and she is excited about working with her class in the year ahead.

P3/4 and Miss McIntyre.

My Holidays!!!

We have had 7 weeks of our Holiday I cant believe how quick the Holidays have gone past it only felt like two weeks! So this is what happened in my Holidays. We went to go to the barracuda club to go swimming it is right across from DG one (The Barracuda club is also a gym where mum likes to go to work out). When it is a rainy day we stayed in and we usually are aloud to go on the computes! we really like to play Mindcraft we build all sorts of things we also watch some YouTube.

And by the way it is not a nightmare we are just back at school!

Tower Challenge

Miss Dale asked P5-7 pupils to plan, make, test and improve a tower.

It had to have a member of the team standing on it!

This is the work in progress…

The rules were:

you could only use sticky tape and newspaper.

You were not allowed to pile the paper.

You had to make the paper stronger by folding or rolling.

Ryan thought it was hard because you had to make it strong enough to hold an entire person.

But did any of them work?

Stay tuned!!

First week back

On Monday the 21st of August we were back from our summer holidays. The first day back we were just sorting out the class room like pens, pencils, and other resources. We are now in room 3 class room as the p3 4 stole our class room and in the wee class room there is p1 2 and in our class room the is 5 to 7.

I think the best day of the week was big Thursday because we done all the best subjects like music with Mrs Stapleton then after break we had out door skills with Mr Walker Then after lunch P.E with Mrs Macintyre
