WEEK in the WOODS

Today I have been learning my word list 5 again, mummy helping me try to put sentences together using some of the words.  She did the first one and then I had to try and make my own sentences for the rest.

My hand is starting to get better, the infection is less now but having to keep it all bandages up just now to protect it.  Not done a lot of school work this week cause of my hand, completed Sumdog with Mum helping hold my phone to do it and been on Epic.

Hi everyone,

Yesterday we were out for the full afternoon walking, we went for a walk at Ae forest and then from Dock Park to Kingholm Quay – Mum says it was to burn off our energy!!

I have been working for a few days on coding my own game for Roblox, I am still working on it and it is taking a lot of time and concentration.  I am creating a survival based game.

I have been alive for roughly 370,801,800 seconds.

I had no idea it would not even be billions.

I forgot to mention, I have also been helping my step dad Mark (Mark Montgomery) do some research for his latest book. He is nearing the end of a crime novel set in a Roman fort in Cumbria. I have read some of the Vindolanda letters to help him look at normal life in a Roman fort. I want to be a writer like him when I’m older.

I have come to tell you all about the book I have been reading lately, my DC Encyclopedia. I have been reading about the Lantern Corps, all or which are powered by the emotional spectrum. I have also been reading about the Flash and many of his allies. Some of the origins are a bit too hard to explain. I decided to talk about this book because I have a large obsession with DC at the moment. I hope you’ve all been reading good books as well.

Welcome to another Friday Book Blether!

I hope you have all been enjoying lots of great books this week. I have started reading The Explorer by Katherine Rundell – thank you for the recommendation Rhona! I am reading it with my son which is nice because we can chat about the story as we go – a bit like a family book group  (great idea Joe!).

The thing I am loving about The Explorer is how Katherine Rundell manages to transport you to The Amazon through her amazing descriptive language…the sights, the smells, the sounds…you feel like you are there!

So, inspired by The Explorer, this week we are going to think about story setting:

• Where does the story take place?
• How does the author describe the place?
• What can you see, hear, smell, feel as you read the story?

You can tell us about a book you’re reading at the moment, or a book you have already read.
