IDL project

Holywood   vs   Ny Alesund!!!!!!

We are back and we are doing an IDL arctic project on what is different between Holywood and Ny Alesund.

Holywood and Ny Aselund both have a post office but the only thing that doesn’t look similure is the way it looked and the way it looks now, the difference between Holywood and Ny Aselund is that the houses are made out of wood and the walls here at Holywood are sometimes made out of wood but mainly made out of stone or brick. Another difference  is that they have an arctic research station. If the arctic was here would we have an arctic research station?  the climate here is usually -1 but here but the climate there in February and march is normally -9 to -16, April is -6 to -13, may is 0 to -5. At Ny Aselund, in summer the sun never sets and in winter the sun never rises. When you are looking at some of the pictures they look fabulous and the landscape they have is stunning, the view, looking out a window into the mountains is amazing. Holywood landscape is in the middle for me and the view in some places, not really good some other may be amazing you might take a picture. Which place do you prefer? Which place would you stay?

Hi all, Caspian here!

Today I did some facts about woodpeckers and a business card for the play Julius Caesar. I also highlighted in my book how I would like t change the story. I decided to make Julius listen to his wife and not go out to get murdered. Also I did some woodpecker facts and here they are!

  6. They close their eyes when pecking to avoid debris.
  7. Their nose is specially designed to avoid debris getting in it.
  8. They cannot be found in Australia.
  9. The imperial woodpecker is extinct.
  10. 32 woodpecker species are found in India.
  11. I saw a red crested woodpecker in the woods.

I also have some more god facts for you!

Northern Lights Holiday

Hello its me Tanith,

I am very sorry that I didn’t do a blog yesterday, I fell asleep before I did one. I looked at a lot of holidays in the Arctic and decided to go and see the northern light in a snowcat with my family. I drew a picture of the northern lights and of my family where we are all looking up to the sky. The trip lasted 3 hours and it was magical. We all want to go back to see them again.

Today I have done some spelling and some noughts and crosses with my mama. I have also done some maths in my book and sumdog. We had a lovely walk in the woods when it was snowing. I hope we get hot chocolates tonight.

Love from Tanith xxx
