Creative Earth Competition

Creative Earth Competition – Together For Our Planet (ukcop26.org)

Hi Everyone,

A parent kindly sent this into the school office (thank you!) in case anyone is interested. I think some of you will be interested because it is a competition which involves thinking about the Earth and I know that a lot of you care about the Earth and what lives here, and because you all have fantastic creative ideas.  We thought we would share it in case you would like to do it as an activity over the holidays.

It’s Friday!

Hi Team Holywood,

Well done for all of your super home learning this week.

There is a new Health and Wellbeing task on all learning pages.

There is a new Practical Maths task on the Early and First level learning pages.

Hope you all enjoy your well deserved break next week. Take care everyone! 🙂

Currant Bun Day

Hello every body,

After listening to sea shanties I did a cat magazine cover and I took a picture of Dodger and Ludo as they were relaxing in the sun together. Then I helped mama make some currant buns. Here is the recipe.

160g butter

160g caster sugar

3 eggs

1tsp vanilla essence

160g self raising flour

85g currants or sultanas

Mix it all together and put in bun cases.

200 degrees c for 12-15 minutes.

Smile every day, be safe and be happy. Love Tanith xxx

Minecraft’s wilderness

Today I made a cover for a magazine called Minecraft’s wilderness and yes, that name is terrible because I only had like 1 minute to come up with it. Anyway as you might have already guessed it’s about Minecraft’s wilderness. You know that’s what it’s called. Anyway here is a picture of it.

Anyway tell me what you think 🤔,

Hannah

Big Thursday in the hub.

We really enjoyed the Big Thursday activities today in the hub. This morning we worked on STEM and Art.

Larsson created an umbrella out of clay. Miller made a cardboard fish spear. Bailey made a cardboard spear and shield. Brooke made an ice cream bowl and massive paper spoon. Carlay made a chocolate knife, a paper torch and an ice cream bowl. James made a shiny foil baseball bat and ball. Findlay made a cardboard torch and hunting spear. James and Olivia made a cardboard and paper games controller. Can you figure out why these objects almost work but don’t quite?

Kaitlyn and Sarah worked on a magazine cover- on the computer then on paper. Bailey made a Survival magazine front cover. Jack and Bruce worked on Gaming magazines.

For P.E we worked on the activities that Miss Stapleton had planned. It was great to get outside for some fresh air.

We all finished off the day by listening to Wellerman and trying some body percussion.

We also had a surprise visitor in the playground… Mrs Fraser spotted a pheasant!! We tried to get a photo of it but it flew away.

Hope you have all had a great day!

Polar ice lanterns

we have been making ice lanterns. its easy and they look pretty. if you want to make some you will only need a freezer, and candles and/or glow sticks and balloons.

First fill a ballon with water and tie it and put in your freezer. check it after a couple of hours (you need to wait until the outside has frozen but you can still hear the water sloshing about in the middle. big ones might take a while.)

once its ready take it out of the freezer and snip the tie of the ballon. and peel the balloons skin off. you shoud have a lovely circular lantern. put it back in the freezer if you dont want to use it straight away. you can light them up with candles or glowsticks or both.

its fun when they are outside on a cold night because they don’t melt. we burned ours the last 2 nights they still didnt melt. they look magical. we froze other shapes too. the best one was the sandcastle shaped one and the jelly mould was good too. hope you like them. 🙂

Big Thursday by Ella

Hi

Today I listened to the music by Nathan Evans – Wellerman.

I really like this song. It has a good beat. I liked the remix one best as there was a violin and I thought the cat was funny and the different voices and people in it.  I like Tiktok alot so this was my favourite one. I tried to sing along but found it tricky. I had a go “keeping the beat” which was good fun too.

I have started my magazine cover. It’s a kids magazine about Butterflies mainly and also some other insects. I haven’t finished it yet but this is what it looks like so far.

I have been reading and we went to the park. The slide is my favourite as you go really fast.

Bye

Sea shanties- Wellerman

This afternoon we all worked on music together in the hub. Here are some of our opinions.

Jack- I think the songs are catchy and it had a good beat.

Sarah- I think the beat was good when the other people joined in with the singing.

Brooke- I liked the violin.

James GM- I liked the original better because you hear all of the verses.

James G- I liked them both because they reminded me of a story that my brother told me about seeing a whale on holiday.

Bailey- The remix version was catchy.

Kaitlyn- I think this song is going to be stuck in my head for days.

Findlay- I think these songs are both awesome because I like the beat.

Miller- I liked doing the body percussion.

Larsson- I liked the original version but I didn’t like the clapping.

Olivia- I liked both versions but I prefer the remix because it is catchy and enjoyable.

Bruce- I liked both songs because they made me feel alive.

Carlay- I liked the remix version because the cat was funny in the video. I liked the bit when everyone joined in and I liked the beat.
