The Broons’ Bramblin’ Weekend

Hello! Caspian here!

I have done some maths and spelling today. I also watched NewsRound and discussed the stories with Mum and Mark. I also had to put punctuation into the Broons comic and then do it in english. Here is the Scot version:

“Come on, you lot!” Nagged Grandpaw. “Pit yer auld clothes in this case for the bramblin’!” “Why can we no’ jist wear oor auld clothes tae but an’ ben?” One o’ the twins asked. “Because ye’re no goin’ doon Glebe Street dressed in rags. That’s why!” Stated Maw Broon. “Awa’ for the weekend Mrs. Broon?” A lady on the street asked. “Er…yes. We’re just taking a break, up at our country cottage.” Maw Broon replied. That afternoon they had reached their cottage. “Here we are!” Grandpaw said. “We’d better turn in for the night. We’ll be up at the crack o’dawn for the berris the morn’!” Grandpaw instructed. Next morning, Grandpaw stepped out of the house to pick berries. “Rise an’ shine a’body! Let’s get at those brambles!” Grandpaw commanded. When they got there, they all had their own conversations. “Just as well we’ve got oor auld togs on eh, Maggie?” Maw Broon asked Maggie. “Yes! These thorns would rip our tights to shreds!” Maggie replied. Later when they had picked enough berries Grandpaw shouted: “That’ll do a’body! We’ve got enough to make a few pounds o’ jam!”. When they got home, Hen and Joe were waiting outside. “Come on Grandpaw! We’re caspin’ for a cup o’ tea!” Joe complained. “Aye, get yer key oot and open the door!” Hen asked Grandpaw. “Oh no! I’ve left my keys in my guid breeks… An’ they’re still inside!” Grandpaw explained. When they walked past the lady’s house. “Well, well. If it’s no’ the Broons back from their country cottage. Ha, ha!” The lady said. Whit a disgrace! The youngest Broon thought.

And on that note, goodbye!

Prodigy

Hi there! Caspian here.

I have been looking around on Top Marks and I found a cool maths game called Prodigy. I have got to level 13 in it. It not only does maths, but you can get pets, and wands, and spells, and relics, and wizards, and battles, and quests. I was hoping our school could sign up to it and we could all do maths and battle titans made by The Puppet Master in it.

Bye!

Big Eye for The Win! (Or at least third place I hope)

Hi! Caspian here.

As many other people are entering the big teddy competition, I decided to enter too. I doubt I will win. Any way Big Eye is my purple minion teddy. I cannot find out who he was from the film…But his name comes from the size of him and his eyes.

The Broons

Hi there, Caspian here!

I didn’t write a blog on Friday so this will cover Friday and today.

I did a quiz on Barnacle Geese. I couldn’t walk to Dumfries so all respect to the geese who migrate such long distances. I still have some maths mistakes to work through but I haven’t looked at them yet. I drew my graphic novel also.

Today I worked on spellings. I keep mixing up British spellings with American spellings. For example center. I have also done some long division in maths. I am part way through the Broons activities. I spent quite a lot of time looking up definitions in the Scottish dictionary and also helped Tanith with one of her poems.

Dodger went back to the vets today as he still isn’t very well. When he was brought home by the nurse, he was much brighter and pleased he didn’t have to stay overnight. He has more medicine to stop him from being in so much pain.

I’ve told Mum I would like some dragon shaped Night Fury cake made tomorrow. She says I will have to be happy with chocolate smartie cookies!

Slán go léir (Irish for goodbye all)

I lost my upper right molar!!! 😁🦷

Hi there. Caspian here.

Today I lost my upper right molar and if I’m on my best behaviour I might get Robux for it! I really like losing teeth. Except from the first time I did. So basically, at 5 years old, I was in  a bad mood and I bit the zip on my coat. I was in agony! But, we went to the Penrith NHS and they gave me…(pause for effect)…a big cotton wool pad. I had to use it for the next day and a half, I couldn’t even eat mini cheddars! What torture is that?! Anyhoo, the next day around lunchtime I went to the dentist who took out the teeth. One was twisted and the other was bent back. I think that’s where Mum gets her fear of wobbly teeth from. Ooer. Then around 1pm I went back to school and ate like a boar. Well, I was starved from mini cheddars for a day and a half, so it is believable.

I had better mention my schoolwork for the day! I worked on apostrophes with Mr Laidlaw when he called. I was going to colour in the French toucan but Tanith beat me to it. She clearly enjoyed doing her toucan yesterday so she stole my thunder! Toucan play at that game!!! The mystery number is 128719. The planets are Earth, Uranus, Venus and Mercury.

I have started my Bad Broonie graphic novel but it is not finished yet. I also wrote a summary about the Arctic.

How Will the Arctic Nature Cope With Climate Change

Most pf the Arctic will be affected by climate change. For starters, polar bear dens will be melted down and some animals rely on the cold for cover and food. The new temperatures could affect the Inuit tribes. The cold affects how they sleep because they might sleep next to a radiator and if they keep up that habit, they could burn down their houses.

I hope you have all had a good day. I’m going to go out on a limb here and be Tanith because I have ran out of languages for my outros so…smile every day and be happy.

Ny-Alesund

Hi, Caspian here.

For starters, I am very close to losing my top right molar in my mouth. I am very excited. Secondly, I have done my maths, my spelling, and had a look over two places in google maps. Those two places are, Holywood village and  Ny-Alesund in the Arctic. My job was to compare them, and point out what was the same and what was different. I also looked at other places in the world as the satellite pictures really intrigued me.

My cats have been very calm today, which is odd since they are usually quite loud. I think they’ve gone mad from having big lumps of me while I sleep. Although they’re the ones who sleep on me while I’m reading.

Mum got me a new Wimpy Kid book and it arrived today. I have already read it right through so she has to get me another now!

Au revoir! (You have been taking lessons in this, so I won’t point out the language for you.)

Woodpeckers

Hi all, Caspian here!

Today I did some facts about woodpeckers and a business card for the play Julius Caesar. I also highlighted in my book how I would like t change the story. I decided to make Julius listen to his wife and not go out to get murdered. Also I did some woodpecker facts and here they are!

  1. They have strong bills for pecking out nests in trees.
  2. They have very long tongues.
  3. Their brain is small to avoid brain damage from pecking.
  4. Woodpecker skulls inspired bike helmets.
  5. They can peck 30 times per second.
  6. They close their eyes when pecking to avoid debris.
  7. Their nose is specially designed to avoid debris getting in it.
  8. They cannot be found in Australia.
  9. The imperial woodpecker is extinct.
  10. 32 woodpecker species are found in India.
  11. I saw a red crested woodpecker in the woods.

I also have some more god facts for you!

  1. Apollo was the god of music, light and healing.
  2. Aurora was the goddess of the dawn.
  3. Bellona was the goddess of war.
  4. Cupid was the god of love.
  5. Vulcan was the god of fire and blacksmiths.

Rom-Halan! (Vulcan for goodbye) I am running out of aliens to translate. This is very bad.

Julius Caesar

Hi there! Caspian here!

Today I have done some maths and spelling and I also did a project on Julius Caesar. I did some illustrations to show the storyline. The first one is where Julius’ wife warns him he’ll die. The second one is Julius being murdered by Brutus and some other people. The third one is Mark Antony becoming emperor of Rome. The fourth is of Brutus killing himself on the battle field. I also am going to write down one fact about Roman gods each day at the back of my book.

Thats all today, See ya! Also today’s fact is…(Drumroll please!) There are 20 male deities with the Roman God Mars Of Romano Britain. For example, Toutatis and Camulos.
