residential
last week P5-7 went to Galloway activity centre from Monday to Wednesday and this is how it went.
DAY ONE
on the first day we did laser tag and archery in laser tag I hide behind a tree for half the game and got a ton of people out it was fun but the second round my gun didn’t even work. The teachers even joined in with laser tag! there was people who would just shoot you as soon as you got back in the game and i found that pretty annoying but i still had fun. in archery I hit a bulls eye two times in a row then i was just able to hit the red and the blue part of the target after that. trying to get to sleep in a tent was horrible it was absolutely freezing i was that cold i went to sleep withe my jacket on with to sleeping bags and i was still freezing.
DAY TWO
in the morning i god woke up by someone singing at six o’clock in the morning! what i had for breakfast was toast with chocolate spread. after we had breakfast we had to get ready for water sports after that our group got split in two smaller groups some of us went to do paddle boarding the other half went to the big water slide. My group went to the big water slide only two people were aloud down at once when i walked up to the start of the water slide i got soaked with freezing cold water by one of the members of staff it was quite fun he was also pouring massive 5 litre tubs of soap down the slide and and on some of the people going down the slide. we were there for about an hour then then the two groups switched over we had to go in partners for paddle boarding. It was quite hard to get on the board because as soon as you went to get on it it felt like it was going to fall over anyways when me and my friend both got on the paddle board it was really wobbly after we had got the hang of the boards we started heading into the deeper part of the loch then I dipped my paddle in the water and it didn’t touch the bottom! After water sports we went for lunch. after lunch my group went to the 3G swing the highest swing in Scotland it is 40 foot tall! as it was coming down I got a horrible feeling in my stomach.
Gala day
Hello Contijn again. This blog is about Gala day. A few weeks ago me Hannah, Olivia and Kaitlyn started with our ideas for gala day. We wanted to do some sponge throwing and have slushies so we did both ! we started with our design and started with making a frame (we never used it) . After a while we found out that it wasn’t really working so we wanted to do a wash line with a tarpaulin on top but it was to windy so we did it on the side of the greenhouse.
The day (Gala day)
We had our blender ready to go and had a cool box filled with ice and we started. It went really fast we had 4 customers for sponge throwing in 5 minutes !!! The slushies worked good as well. After a while we doubled the price because miss Dale was up for sponge throwing
The end of gala day
We sold some more slushies and I made a extra £5 pounds at the end because miss Dale wanted to empty a bucket with cold water on my head 🙂 .
(I had a nice Slushie at the end)

Residential!
the primary 5-7’s went to Galloway activity Centre from May 30th to June the 1st. we went on the bus their in the morning. When we got off one person from every 3 had to pick up a tent and bring it to where we wore setting up . After Miss Staple ton and miss Pattie told us where to pitch our tents We all went to our spot and set them up. The teachers set us up into two groups and they both did different things on the first day one group did archery and the other group did laser tag then we switched so that every group got a shot doing each off the activity’s. For dinner we got chicken nuggets and chips and we had the option off beans . there was also a big clubhouse that is where we ate dinner and the bathrooms wore in there. It was good because when it was to rainy we got to stay in there. On the last night it was extremely rainy and we had to stay in the clubhouse until we choose to go the bed
the Activity’s
archery: One of the first activity we did was archery. We all got into a team off four and gave our group a name after the groups went up in turns to try and shoot at the target. We also played a game called pizza all the groups went up in turns as usual but this time we wore aiming to make a pizza all the targets meant a different thing .
laser tag: When we went to laser tag the first thing we did was get a gun the guns also had head sets so when somebody died the gun would say something like “man down” or just make a beeping noise and the headset would flash red. There wore two teams the red team and the blue team. the instructor had the ability to revive us with her special reviving gun.
paddle boarding: One of the water activity’s was paddle boarding we had to get into a two and go on to the same paddle board the person in the back had there ankle strapped with a strap and it was attached to a wire so if the person feel off they wouldn’t float to far away. We also wore body suits and life jackets so we would float if we feel in.
Slip n slide: The slip n slide also known as a water slide was a big slide going down the hill it had soup and bubbles in it and people went to quite quick there wore to slides so people wore racing.
rock climbing: At residential there was also a big rock climbing wall so got attached to a Harness and had to try to go to the top where there was a button. If we clicked it it would make a buzzing noise and we jumped down.
The big swing: The big swing was a massive swing u went on with two other people. A string would lift u up and then a guy would count u down after the swing went very high in the air and then came down.
BOAT RACING: The last activity we did was boat racing we had to put safety jackets on. And raced against the other group that was there . We all got into teams and so did the other school after we had to collect a paddle and hop on a boat two people on one seat. Luckily nobody tipped over. I think the other school won .

On Monday we did laser tag and archery for laser tag we where in the woods and it was so wet but it was fun and archery was heard some people got it on the target we had 3 arrows to shot at the target and we got so wet.
On Tuesday we went paddle boarding on the water and some of us fell in the water and the water was not that cold after that we went to the water slide it was so fun to go down we did a few races down the slide and I won a few. After lunch we did the climbing wall what was heard to get to the top some people got to the top and hit the Butten after the climbing wall we went to the 3g swing we had to put a harness and a helmet before we went on after we where ready we got strapped on to the swing we where so high up and a lot of people where screaming on the way down but it was so fun.
Residential!
Last week all the P5-7s went to spend three days at Galloway Activity Center (GAC) for their residential. We had to camp. for two nights. I guess it was a little fun but we had to share a tent with two other people, unless you were me i only had to share with one other person : )
On the first day it was all land sports/ activities
There was Archery and Laser tag. We all got split into two groups so there wasn’t too many people doing one thing at once. My group started at Archery, It was very strait forwards. We got split into even smaller teams for Archery. Our instructor the told us how to be safe with the bow and how to stand with it. He then said we needed arm protectors just in case the string came back and hit you on the arm (The arm protectors were old wet-suit arms…. He said he liked to recycle)! Once we were finished we then swapped and went onto doing Laser tag! All of us got split into two teams again… We followed one of the staff members into one of the rooms where you get equipped with your head band and Laser gun. >:D We then got leaded to our sides and then waited for the count down for when to start. I didn’t mention this but you have ten lives and you can only do head shots to get people out!
On the second day it was water sports
I cant fully remember what we did on the second day but I do know that we did paddle boarding! We were lead down to the water where all the paddle boards were. Then did some warm ups, got told the safety rules, how to paddle it, how to sit and then we got a partner. I am not keen on the water even though we had life jackets on…. my partner didn’t care about the water….. they constantly kept shaking the board. I did have a good time though. I would recommend going paddle boarding! 😀
On the last day we did a mix of sports/ activities ( I’m getting mixed up with the days)
We got split into groups again and I started the day with the water slide! It was amazing! We all had to get into the wet-suits again but I was having to much fun I didn’t mind them. Then it was rock climbing, I very much enjoy rock climbing I have had a lot of experience with it! Then we did the best thing THE 3G SWING! >:D…. I think most people enjoyed it except maybe a few people. The basic idea is there is a big swing like contraption. You are held onto a metal bar by a harness…. suspended in the air just by this thick metal clip and ring. you are then lifted in the air really high… and then you are let go so you swing in the air! After that we did dragon boat racing which was not fun what so ever, mostly because we were competing against another school but anyways… Trying to get your team in time with each other is HARD!
To sum everything up I had a lot of fun and it sucks it was my first and last residential here at holywood… Well here is some photos that people took while we were away:
Residential
This blog is about Residential. Last week we had residential for 3 days Monday morning we went to Galloway activity centre with P5-7. we started there with setting everything up our tents and put our stuff inside, the staff gave us a tour and 30 minutes later we started with our first activities. They started with dividing the big group in two smaller groups the first group started with archery and the other started with laser tag after a while we switched around.
Archery is harder than it looks you have to put the arrow on in a position, you have to give the arrow power in a different position and you have to aim properly. But I did pretty well shot next to the bullseye :D.
Laser Tag wasn’t that difficult you had a gun with a scope and you had 2 teams and just try to shoot the other team. (it was fun)
DAY 2 (Water activities, Climbing wall, giant swing)
After a cold night we started with the water activities we had to wear a wet suit and a life jacket. The group that started with laser tag on day one had land activities in the morning and water in the afternoon. The group that started with archery had water in the morning and land in the afternoon.
They divided the groups in two again so 50% of the people that had to do water activities in the morning started with paddle boarding (me as well) and the other 50% started with the giant slide.
Paddle boarding : Around 10 in the morning and after some explanation we we’re getting the boards. We had to make partners but there was no one left so I had a board for myself 🙂 . We had to walk into the water till our knees and jump on the board and stay on our knees with our paddle in our hand. We we’re ready to start and weeeee. I controlled the board pretty fast after a small 10 minutes we we’re allowed to go further on the log. When we we’re at the middle of the log we we’re allowed to stand up I and that was the more difficult part but if you’re up its pretty easy to stay up. After a while we went to a wooden platform in the middle of the log (where me and Bailey jumped in the water) And after a small 10 minutes at the platform we went back to land.
Water slide : After much fun with the paddle boards we went to the giant water slide. They we’re putting water and soap on the slide (and on people) . And yeah it was just having fun and slide and do races.
Land activities on Day 2
With the land activities everyone that started with archery on day 1 was together again we started with the climbing wall. It was a wall with stones and you had to climb to the top and press the button I clicked one of them.
After the climbing wall we went to the giant swing !!!! I was going with my little and Kohdie we we’re going on the highest with a surprise but he started counting from 3 to 1 and I thought this ain’t a surprise ! But he did this -> 3….. And we went it was pretty fast !
In the evening we started with pink tail there we’re a few hunters and they had top chase the people with a pink tail (a pink tissue) and took the tail of them when you tail got grabbed you are a hunter as well I started as hunter in the first round. In the second round I got caught pretty fast. But in the last round is started hiding with Liam, Esmae And Kaitlyn one time Ramani saw us and started coming but he never saw me so I was just chilling till the end.
Day 3
On the last day we had the dragon boat race we had some explanation in the morning and we started the race the first round was close but we lost. The Second round was close as well but we lost again and in the last round against the group that started with laser tag on day one. And it was close as well but we lost again so yeah that was the dragon boat race.
Disclaimer : The soup wasn’t even close to tasty . (same for the chicken nuggets and chips)
LEAVING
We had to leave on day 3 as well (sad). We packed our stuff including the tents and we hopped in the bus again and it was a pretty fun ride as well !
This are some beautiful pictures of Residential.

Residential
Last week p5/7 went on a residential trip to Galloway activity centre for 3 days and 2 nights. It was very fun we got to go on a big swing , rock climbing , water slide , paddle boarding , dragon boat and we got to play games in the dragon boats we had a race. my favourites where rock climbing and paddle boarding but i really liked everything apart from the soup. the picture is the teacher going on the big swing. I went on a paddle board with someone else and we got blown away in the strong wind so one of the staff there had to give is a toe back to where it wasn’t too deep or rocky. The rock climbing was very fun and nothing went wrong but there was someone standing behind me and since they where so close i almost hit them in the face when i fell. at water sliding there was a guy with a hose and sprayed it down our backs
Disraeli
So… Guess what!
While I was casually eating my chicken goujons, watching TV.. Mark calls and we suddenly have a probably orphaned/abandoned fox cub on the dog walking route beside the church!
We took it in with a cat basket and a blanket. It didn’t seem to have anything wrong with it, and looked about 9 weeks old. Mum called the vets who directed us to the SSPCA. In the meantime, we had some toast and Jaffa Cakes, I read some haiku(s?) and Mum named the fox.
She decided to name it Disraeli, as a compliment and a criticism, she is too loving towards animals. Of course that is a good thing, but can be a bad thing if you get too close to an animal.
When the SSPCA came, we took about 15 minutes trying to get Disraeli into the other basket. Eventually, we let it go in the basket we had, along with the blanket.
We all felt incredibly sad as Disraeli went, but at least I saw a fox up close and personal for the first time!
Also here is a picture:
This was honestly quite the adventure.
