Lots of growing

Experiment 1

I have just been planting experiment 1. My predictions are that

1) water and sun – grows well

2) water and no sun – soil will be wet. No sun means the plant won’t get food and won’t grow as good.

3) sun and no water – probably die – like the small plants in the school greenhouse

4) no sun and water – wont grow.

I will keep the plants that don’t need sun in the cupboard. I will keep the ones that need light in the porch.

Bean plant from Felix. The plant started small and kept crying up. I thought it was going to die. I sent it to my granny who lives across the road, she put it into a bigger pot and looked after it. She let it live in her green house with the other plants. I think the bean plan looks better after it’s holiday.

While the bean plant was having a holiday a mouse came long and took a big chunk out of it. The mouse also nibbled my parsley. Granny thought we had been in getting some for  our soup .

  1. I can’t wait to hear if your predictions were correct Erin! Are you going to keep us updated on the blog? The bean plant is looking great, your granny has done a fab job looking after it!!

  2. Yes I will update you.
I am doing experiment 2 . I am going to us crushed eggshell as my fertiliser.
I also saw a video about how to make worm tea. Worm tea looks like it would be good for the school green house. I think what Mrs Madden and felix would know how to help make it.

  3. Gosh Erin you have been doing lots of planting and your predictions are excellent. Like Miss Brockie Donald says it would be good if you keep us updated. I am trying to grow a melon plant this year. I have never tried before so it is interesting. Whether I ever see a melon or not, well let’s wait and see.

  4. Great predictions, and a very well organised experiment set up Erin. Well done. I look forward to finding out if your predictions were correct, and also how the egg shell fertiliser goes because I read about that and it sounded interesting. Also, you’ll need to tell us more about worm tea, I’m intrigued…

  5. I like your predictions about your plants, Erin – we’ll have to wait and see if they are correct. Your bean plant looks great on that photo. You could make some plant food from nettles also, I managed to get some comfrey leaves from down by the river. I put as many as I could into a bucket with a lid and covered them with water. I have left the bucket outside my greenhouse for a few weeks. It makes a kind of black liquid that really smells but you can dilute it in a watering can and feed it to your plants – they love it.

  6. Great predictions Erin, I wonder if they will all be correct or not. I love that your bean plant went on a holiday!! I would like to know what worm tea is as well…
