Snow Day!

Happy Snow Day, Primary Two!

I hope everyone is safe and enjoying an unexpected two days off. Here are some ideas for how to enjoy yourselves while still learning:

Numeracy & Mathematics

See how many different shapes you can make out of snow

Have a competition to see who can build the tallest/smallest/widest/narrowest snowman

Use a watch or a mobile phone timer to see who can build a snowman the fastest

Count how many snowballs you can make in one minute/five minutes/ten minutes

If you are sledging, have a race and explain who was 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.

Use your positional language while sledging – explain who is in front, behind, to the left, to the right.

See how many different patterns you can make in the snow using your feet/hands/objects.

Health and Wellbeing

Ask an adult to help you check on your Grandparents or neighbours to see if everyone is safe and warm

Help an adult make a meal with the food you have at home

Ask an adult for a kindness challenge – cleaning your room, or reading to a brother or sister.

Practise your throwing (and even catching!) skills if you happen to be having a snowball fight. But be careful!

Literacy

Read a story to someone at home

Watch a snow day movie and talk about the characters/plot/setting

Make up a story of your own – be an Imaginative Izzy!

Create your own setting for your story – e.g. build a den out of blankets and pillows, create a castle using Lego bricks.

RME

Keep practising for our Mass – We are hoping to be back at school by Tuesday!

Hope to see you soon!

Miss O’Rourke 🙂
