October in P7M

We have had a very busy month of October in Primary 7M with lots of fun activities and learning.

Before the holidays the class got to take part in a Science lesson creating Slime! This meant that the pupils needed to measure out ingredients and create a write up of our experiment.

Pupils were developing their Growth Mindsets with a diamond nine challenge where they were ordering characteristics of becoming an effective learner into an order that they thought was most important. We then discussed the orders that each group chose and why.

Pupils lead our reading lesson through their enthusiasm and enjoyment of the books that they were reading and created book reviews to recommend the books to others.

Primary 7 planned and organised a fantastic sharing and learning assembly and afternoon. The pupils put so much effort and hard work into creating an informative assembly on Growth Mindset! Pupils then invited parents back to the class to teach them about Growth Mindset.

During outdoor learning day pupils demonstrated their knowledge of the body systems, created their own games to help improve a concept within maths and then used materials from the outdoors to create a character and a description of their character. Pupils were all very enthusiastic about the activities and the sun thankfully joined us for our day learning outside!

Week 6- 24th-28th September

This week in class some of Primary 7M pupils have been presenting their Great Scot personal projects that they have been working on for the last few weeks as a homework task. These presentations have been very interesting and it is clear that a lot of time and hard work was put into creating these. We can’t wait to watch the rest of them next week!

During topic this week we have been continuing our Great Scot topic by looking at the life of Robert Burns. The pupils went on a treasure hunt around the classroom to collect all of the important dates and information about his life. They then had to work in their table groups to put these into chronological order so that they could create an accurate timeline.

Sadly, this was our last week skiing at Firpark. The pupils all had a fantastic time and even recieved a class star pupil for their resilience and teamwork. The pupils all received a certificate with their achieved level from the ski centre.

The class are all excited for going back next week!

Our schools House Captain interviews were carried out this week, and the 8 House Captains and Vice Captains were chosen, all applications were of an excellent calibre and those individuals that made it into the interview stage all preformed well. However, many Primary 7 pupils applied and only 8 could be chosen. Well done to all of those that put themselves forward.

The beginning of the best last year at Redwell!

Week 1- 20th-24th August

Pupils returned to class this week well rested and ready to learn. The positive attitude and excitement that the pupils arrived with was fantastic to see. Already the Primary 7 pupils have began to adapt to their new role at the top of the school and are trying their best to be good role models to the rest of the school and the new Primary 1’s. They have taken on new roles such as wet playtime monitors and assisting the P1’s during their lunchtime and ensuring they are settling in. All pupils have taken on their roles with a great sense of pride and maturity. Well Done!!

We have been working this week to create our new ‘Class Charter’ where the pupils have been identifying the rights that are important to their education and deciding the responsibilities we should have to help uphold these. We all agreed and signed our charter and related this to upholding the Redwell Way.

After the success and enjoyment of last years class novel “Wonder” we have decide to make our first class novel “Auggie and Me”. This book carries on from Wonder through the viewpoint of some of the other main characters. We have only just started but we are enjoying it already!

We have been discussing how we can safely use the internet and social media as well as the dangers that we need to be aware of. Pupils creates information packed leaflets on how to stay safe. Maybe you could ask your child what they have learned? They are full of useful knowledge and safety tips!

Looking forward to another fantastic week!
