We went out to the school car park. We copied the number plates. We were using observational skills, recording skills, number skills, letter skills and chatting skills. We had a good time.

Mr Harrower told us about a frog outside. We looked for the frog. We didn’t find it cause it was camouflaged.

We went on an Autumn Walk. We went to the shops. We bought marshmallows, chocolate stars, squirty cream, milk and chocolate powder. We walked through the crunchy leaves and we threw the leaves, counting down from ten into the air. We counted the seagulls in the field, there were 40. We loved the hot chocolate. Some people did not like it.

Both Primary One classes went to the library in the Dumyat Centre today. The librarian was really pleased to see 37 kids and said we can come back again another day. She did suggest next time we come on a Wednesday, since she only works on a Monday. We had a lovely story about a squirrel who was good at sharing, ( we will definitely try to take a leaf out of his book.) In the afternoon we made hedgehogs using clay. Also we have been discussing personal safety and how to react in emergencies. So ask your child about :
STOP
DROP
ROLL
Indeed I used this very strategy today when that scary headteacher returned to the school, ( only kidding Miss Henderson, it was great to see you again, we have all missed you!)
We are going to get our photographs taken tomorrow. You can brush our hair and wash our face.

We had good fun and it was quite funny when they blew away. Everybody had a great time and it started to rain.

We made sandwiches. We made cheese ones and jam ones. We made quarters and we ate them. They were yummy!

If you went down to the woods today you were sure of a big surprise. Both Primary 1 classes, complete with adult helpers, made a most impressive den using only natural materials. Thanks to Mrs Ford and Jock ( countryside rangers,) Mrs Russell ( Menstrie Legend,) Mrs Smith and Mrs Aldred ( parent helpers.) A good time was had by all and lots of learning in context. Further planned events include work involving habitats and following animal tracks but thats for an ‘ otter’ day.
We went to a café. We had breakfast. I had butter and toast and water. We had fun.
