The children’s choice commitee (CCC) and Eco committees have identified sustainability as an action to undertake this year, particularly raising awareness of Fairtrade. Primary 6 embraced Fairtrade as their context and through the work they have carried out, we are now a Fair Aware school having achieved our first Fairtrade school award. P6 and the CCC have been pro-active in making changes in our school. We now have Fairtrade products available in our dinner hall, we run a very successful Fairtrade tuck shop and we have introduced Fairtrade products to our staff room.
We are now working towards our second Fairtrade award and due to the combined efforts of p6 and the CCC we are well on our way to achieving this.
At our February meeting we discussed the Global Goals. We decided to be part of the Global Lesson and help to spread the message of the goals. To help tell everybody, the CCC are going to lead an assembly to show people what the goals are and what problems they are to fix.
Each class has taken one of the goals to make a picture to show the children at assembly what that goal is all about. There is also a comic book which we are going to share with the children.
In a couple of weeks we will post some photos of our assembly.
Check out the goals at this website; http://www.globalgoals.org/
The Children’s Choice Committee were looking at the Global Goals. These are 17 priorities for the planet agreed upon by the United Nations on 25th September 2015.
Our committee decided that we would like to work on goal 3 Good Health and Well-Being and goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communties.
To contribute to these goals we are going to promote sustainable travel to school. The committee members are going to survey how pupils travel to school at the moment then we are going to promote different ways of travelling to school over the school year.

In what has proven to be a very busy day we are proud to present our new Children’s Choice Committee. Over the course of this session they will work with school staff to improve all aspects of the pupil experience within Clackmannan Primary. One of the first jobs they will be undertaking is the launch of the new Anti Bullying information trifold created by last year’s CCC.
